Thread: Awstats

I hope this is in the correct place to post this.
When I go into awstats, I'm getting a bit confused
When it says the number of visits does this mean the number of times people have visited my site?
When it says number of hits, what does this mean?
At the bottom of the page where it says links from an external page and it lists who has been looking e.g. next to vodahost it has a number 44, what does this mean?
I have just put a link on yell.com and obviously want to keep track of how sucessful it is going to be but In order to do this I need to understand it.

As far as the hits vs. visits;

Links from an external page is possibly from someone who ran across your page on google and linked to it from there.
