Default grouping multiple images into one image

Can someone tell me how to group images. I knew how to select multiple images in the past but can't figure out how to do it now. Thanks for your help.

Click the first Image, if you have them all in a row/ one right after another, hold the shift key and click the last image. Otherwise click the first, hold the control key and click each addtional image.
