Password protect directory

Sorry But i am new to this, (password protecting a directory) Is there any chance you could give an EXAMPLE of a directory & the publishing address for it, Thanks.

a directory is just another folder in your public_html - the place where you publish all your files .....

to password protect a directory (folder) you would create a directory (folder) within the public_html

so if you made one called apples .... you would publish those pages within that directory (folder)

public_html/apples

all the pages that you want to protect would go into that directory (folder)

you create a password to protect that directory in your control panel
