Question password protect ?

I can't seem to set up password protect folder in the password protect directory ? Where do I create a new folder and/or how do I get it into the protect directory ? Do I have to link to it ? or what ?
How do I move files into the protected folder ?
I am trying to protect some pages on my web site "sawgrassvillage.net"

Help

Hi Nora

Here is a link to the tutorial for password protecting a directory (folder) within your public_html directory.

http://www.vodahost.com/DemoDemo/cpa...pdirectory.htm

If you still have problems when viewing this, ask away.

The folder is automatically created for you when you go into your control panel and enter the password protected area where you would create this area .... the folder is automatically created for you ....

then when you wanted to publish a page in there ... you would publish as

public_html/nameofthefolderthatwascreated

Go into your control panel, open the icon that says "password protect directories" your folders will now come into view, click on the folder that you want to password protect, (in your case you want to protect what you called folder) you will need to fill out a password for this. You then publish your pages to this directory (folder) that you called folder ..... when you link to it the url will be http://www.yourdomainname.com/folder.html
When you go to that, you will be prompted to enter the password that you created in your control panel under the password protect directory icon ....

Question Re: password protect ?

Getting closer !!!!!

Okay I created a password protect folder. In the (password prtect directory).
When I change (publc_hmtl) to (public_hmtl/foldername) and go to the web I get an error 404 page not found. ?????
I did try to change URLs to site.net/folder/file but get the same error.

Where is the "publish" dialog field ? I read that I need to change that also.

Help again

It is important to publish to that folder (directory) that you created ...

So keep the name the same ... and you would need to go to the web and find it with the .html at the end of the name ... I think you were on the right track, but forgot the .html did you?

name of folder you are protecting - publish that within bluevoda, when you go to publish a pop up box comes up, listing your ip server address, your username and password and the directory to where you are publishing ..... it should read public_html this is where you would add /nameoffolder and publish your page there and retrieve it with the .html at the end of it .... and when you get there on the internet you should ne prommpted to input your password you created
