Thread: Access to Cpanel

I'm dealing with some of the freelancers on the VodaBids site and some are asking for my user id and pw for access to my hosting account for purposes of uploading, etc. I'm skeptical to give this info out to strangers... what are the risks involved with doing so? And what would be an alternative?

tough call....they could take down your website or send spam out from your account...Make sure they have down other projects in the past..ask to see thier website..find out a little bit about them.

Thanks for your comments. I am dealing with a freelancer in another country and have seen their business website (looks legit). My intial thought would be to question why someone or some business would have the need/desire to sabotage someone's site. I certainly don't want to be naive. Do you think there is an alternative? In other words, could someone send me the files and I could upload myself?

99.9% everything is kosher.....But, you never know.
