    Default Folder Protection Problem

    Hi Bluevoda

We are having problems password protecting a folder.

We have a link on our website called Members only at imrateam.com we want to pasword protect it so that only members that are accepted can have access to that one link but it is not workin.

I`created a folder in cpanel and added the member.html link into it but it just would not work when i clicked on the members only link. it came up as page not found. I then deleted the file by accident with the link in the folder.

What do I need to do to password protect just one simple link on a website?

    thank you for the help

    Ciaran

Did you password protect the folder?

If not, go into your cpanel and protect it by clicking on 'password protect directories'

then publish your page but make sure you publish to the folder:

    public_html/nameoffolder

    That should do it.

Just make sure if you publish another page you don't want in that folder to remove the /nameoffolder before you publish!!

    Forgot to mention:

then when you link to that page from your site your url should be:

    http://www.imrateam.com/nameoffolder/member.html
