Thread: Add on Domain-Sub domain

Could someone explain the difference between an Add-on domain and Sub domain? Especially the context in which one would choose one over the other. and. ..

on an somewhat related topic. . .control panel X version and X3 version. X3 appears to be an upgrade. Is that true and if so is there plans for those of us who joined Vodahost before November of 07 to be upgraded to that version?

I noticed some nice features that version X doesn't have.

An addon domain can be used like a full domain and even have subdomains. Its technically a sub domain..but the properties that it can have is the difference. You can point a NAME to it so you dont have the subdomain.domain in the name server. it will just be .domain

A sub domain.. will always remain a subdomain. subdomain.maindomain

I cant answer you about the upgrades.. put in a support ticket for that.

A Sub-Domain is free and you can create as many as you like.

For Addon Domains you will have to buy and register the domain names and maintain the annual registration fees.

The Addon Domain will function as an independant domain same as your
main domain.
