Thread: Can I retrieve index file which has disappeared?

Hi,

I have successfully put up 1 page sites on sub domains but now find that the index file for my main domain has disappeared - apparently deleted although I don't see how. Is there any way at all for me to retrieve this? (Closing the door after the horse has bolted, but how in future can I make a copy of my directory so that this doesn't happen again?) Help or ideas on what to do much appreciated.

I read this question that you have lost your main index file from your computer AND NOT from your website....yes?

If so, then you can import your main index.html page (see importing a page to BV here) or view a video tutorial here:

BUT FIRST:
Create new folders on YOUR COMPUTER to store the files for each different folder that you have on your website.

Then import the index page
and save to the appropiate folder on your computer.

Sadly, I have lost the index file from my control panel and don't have a copy on my computer. Is there anything at all I can do?

If you google your site and click on
Cached
You can then view the page html and extract just your site html

The other way is to create a new index from scratch.

If you post your web address here, I may do it for you.

It would be great if you could retrieve it for me! I am now rather nervous of trying to do this myself unless no other way. My site was made for me and not made on Blue Voda - hope that doesn't make a difference. My website is http://www.mizzmouse.com If you can do it I would be so grateful. Do you need any other information?

Yes- my site is hosted by Vodahost. IP address 75-126-169-139
