Thread: new site, please help

Hi,

I'm new at this, but when I published my web site I had two problems:
1. I had an index page and 5 add-on pages. I did them all the same, but 2 of the add-on pages didn't publish and I get an error message.

2. With the exception of the index page, I only get text and little red "x"s.

I've gone through the tutorials a few times, but can't seem to find one that tells me what I'm doing wrong. I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks.

Check in control panel that you do not have HOT FIX enabled Or HOT LINKS

I checked and hot fix wasn't enabled. I couldn't find where to check for hot links. Any other ideas? Thanks Karen.

its the same thing people just refer to it differently. In the mean time please post links to your site.

well it doesnt look as if your domain name has propogated yet.. or you typoed.. i dont even get a site found.

Ooops. My mistake. It should be www.fhuhsprojectgraduation.org. (not .com)

The contact page should have a php extension. IE: http://www.fhuhsprojectgraduation.org/contact.php
With the other pages, can only suggest saving & republishing & making sure the publishing pop up area is set to publish all files.

Thanks for the suggestion Chris, but using PHP still didn't help. I tried that and republished all pages, yet nothing changed. I'm also having a problem getting anything but text to not show up as a red "x". The home page works fine, but all others have the "x"s. Thanks.

It looks as if you have resolved all of the mentioned problems.
It is quite confusing when you change the order of your navigation buttons from page to page.
Also, your page appears to "jump" to a different physical location going page to page because your graphics are different sizes on different pages.

Can I second that? Any help for a beginner would be greatly appreciated.
Whens the next comp? I'm itching to see how I go.
