    Default Which version?

I'm just playing around with the format of one of my sites, I'd appreciate a few comparisons on which if any you like.

The original page was delibrately unfussed and is at http://www.yourlocal.org.uk/drive/so...otondritn.html

The next version has had more detail added because my figures show that not everyone who visited this page via pay per click made it through to the next page, I suspect people didn't catch on that you have to click on the thumbnail, the link:
    http://www.yourlocal.org.uk/drive/so...tondritn2.html

In the words of Trevor Macdonald 'and finally', same as above but with new banner as made by rob, (the colour match isn't perfect yet but I can sort that out):
    http://www.yourlocal.org.uk/drive/so...tondritn3.html

    Cheers all

My opinion is the one with the banner is most appealing.. very nice and the page looks real subtle.

Hands down I like #3.. ..it looks the most professional and gives me lots of information without me HAVING to click if I don't want to.

The only thing I found "artistically" confusing was "your local" in the banner and the rest of the words "driving instructors" under the banner. I was trying to figure out why the name of your company was Yourlocal and what it meant until I realized it was part of "driving instructors". But I really like the look of the "yourlocal" banner with the map and all! MUCH better than the plain page #1. Perhaps if you put the whole title inside the banner? Or match the words "Driving instructor" to the style of "yourlocal" .Just a thought.

I really liked having the information about each driver right by their picture. I could go right to where I wanted without having to read too much (I'm a lazy surfer...better catch me right away!)
    still working on website!

Thanks troops! How are you keeping Sharon?

Looks like number three so far then, it's my favourite as well, Rob did the banner I'll see if he can match the colour. Good point about the underlying text, I'll find out what the font is on the banner and match it.

    Cheers

I've just put a border around the banner on #3 to get around the slight colour difference, very subtle change but a quick fix......yes or no?

I’m voting for 3, a lot better looking. Only 1 small thing, your driving school is in the south of England & the banner image is oop north.

    Number 3.
Space under Jo, is that for another box? If not consider centering the one on the left.

#3 is my pick, and it seems to inject a little structure througout.
I wouldn't be surprised if you naturally see it developing further....

    Hi all,

Thanks to all of you, no3 it is then! It is interesting to see things develop, my original concept has changed much in the last few months and I can see a lot of areas I need to work on. But they are always improvements.
I'm going away for a few days so I won't be around till Tuesday, have a good weekend and keep vodaing (is that a word!).

    Cheers

    Nick

DAMMMMIT!!!!!!!! Nick... I am re-doing the Banner.... Well Spottted Roy, thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Grrrrrrr at myself for not spotting that typo... OK.. nick I'm on it.... The new banner will be with you today some time. Also, I will make the blue exactly match the background so that you don;t have to use the border if you don't want to.

Also, Yup, didn't know that you location was Southampton (at the time) so will reposition the map image too :)

Nick... I have emailed the new banner to you... Because it was an emergencey I have corrected the typo but not yet changed anything else. Had to make sure you at least had something that was spelled correctly. I will send another later on.

Just like Nick, I need an opinion LOL... This image has a map that is more suited to Nick's local area and the file size is halved.

Nick, after much 'ummming' and 'aaarrghing' I have decided that my YourLocal banners are rubbish. I can keep working on better designs but would also recommend that you ask RoyB if you can see the one he h as made :)

Legible maps tend to confine your draw. Were it blurred or less detailed (generalized), it might seem more appealing. Also, less visual clutter when seen contrasting to your "logo."

On your samples(which I like) I think that when Nick comes back he
may want the text to read....Your Local.....(seperate words)

I like #3 version. Suggestion though, it would be good to know what you are offering at the beginning of the page. I thought you were a driving instructor. Also, the type in the top banner could be larger. Otherwise, it looks very nice. I like the color. It is soothing.

I've managed to find a computer (with slooooooowwwwwwwwwwww connection) and have got rid of the kids for an hour!

Rob I think all of your designs are superb, I'm really gratefull for all your effort in fact I could make use of all the variations!

Roy thanks mate that is completely unexpected, I'm really quite taken aback. I think it looks fantastic on the page! Now I have a dilemma, what to use. I like all of the designs both of you have put together, maybe I could use all of them, or experiment with them?

Oh dear the family is back, I'll try to get back on line later but as I'm not in my own house it may be awkward!

    Thanks lads!

    Nick
