Your site looks good. What program did you use to design your site?

The site looks fine.. the colors are good.

    My comments:

    1. The pictures on the rotating banner are not manipulated aproperly.. (ie, they are either stretched to squashed too much)
    2. The last picture in the rotating banner seems to be huge.. it takes time to download.
    3. The services page, is the list to the left supposed to be linked..?
    4. The venus page, adjust the size of the white backgrounds to give a little margin between the borders and text (logo). (If it was my site, I'd get rid of the white background altogether).

Index page looks good and inviting.

    Thanks for the comments.

    Answering: Scubadiver:

I developed the website with VodaHost webbuilder. Scripts for the Forms: php programming.
Schedule is one of the calendars from Fantastico.

    Answering: Ez-Ez
The site looks fine.. the colors are good.

    My comments:

    1. The pictures on the rotating banner are not manipulated aproperly.. (ie, they are either stretched to squashed too much)

===Anything I could do to give correct picture size? I couldn't see anything. Now, manipulating the picture to be same size coming into it might work..

    2. The last picture in the rotating banner seems to be huge.. it takes time to download.

=== Can you please clarify which picture. Since its rotating its random.

    3. The services page, is the list to the left supposed to be linked..?

=== Not supposed to be linked.. but looking at it, I see your point

    4. The venus page, adjust the size of the white backgrounds to give a little margin between the borders and text (logo). (If it was my site, I'd get rid of the white background altogether).

=== Venues: Hmm.. oh yeah, I see it, I will make changes to it. If I get rid of the venues. Any thoughts on how I could put the locations of the performances? ON the bands page?

Index page looks good and inviting.

=== Thanks, I appreciate it and all the comments

    Nice site,

-Use PixResizer to correct your picture. http://www.vodahost.com/pix.htm
    -Consider centering your pages.

    Good luck

    I like you site.

Have you thought about using JAlbums (it's free) for your pictures?

Where you have lots of thumbnails - I see you can click on one to enlarge it, but then it is a one by one thing. If these were in an album, you could scroll through them while they are enlarged, as well as have titles, etc, if you want. Easier way to enjoy them, I think.

Also, there is a site called www.picturetrails that has some free ways of displaying pictures that are quite eye-catching.

Have a look at my homepage to see a sample of one of the picturetrail things. Also if you click the pictures button on the home page you can see JAlbum examples, too.

My site isn't a business site, and isn't as snazzy as yours, but you might want to have a look at those things, anyway.

    Just a thought.

    Best of luck,
    Liz

Thanks for the comments: I have already started to add the features mentioned:

    http://www.holleyjohnson.net/indexnew.html

I didn't want to get rid of hte homepage incase it didn't look good. I still have to work on the Gallery as mentioned. I am thinking of gallery2 via fantastico. I wanted to keep most of the pics on vodahost instead of another site. But that flicks..nice tool.

Still working on what was mentioned.

There was a mention earlier about centering the page. I am presuming pictures and text to a smaller window size? i.e. 800X600? I am guessing here.

    Thanks again,
    Stratis

I might have to go to : www.picturetrails.com I tried the gallery option for downloading with Fantastico. It looks alittle too shopping cart program. Are there other spots that people recomment?

By the way, no need to login into holleyjohnson.net/indexnew.html I put it on the index.html page. Looks better after sitting on it for awhile :) I would like to see a good gallery option.

    Thanks,
    Stratis

That's what I like to see. I checked your sites, and that's the idea I have for some of the galleries that I have in mind.

    Thanks everyone for the input.

I have another question with the website. I am using Porta .. and I would like to have the gallery to look similar to the current galleries. Well, basically links and overall surrounding look. Any help out there would be appreciated.

By the way, I have been making more changes since first look. Thoughts on the changes would.

    Thanks,
    Stratis

    econstas:

I found that by croping all my images to square you never have problems resizing. As long as you keep them square you can make them as large or small as tou need with no distortion. Adobe Photoshop 3.1 is a freeware product and has photo croping.

Width is important, because there are a lot of users out there with screen resolutions set between 780 and 800. Interestingly the majority are now over 1200 - go figure. If you can stay with 800.

Length is not as important, very long pages will have users wondering why you did not open a new page. Adding bookmarks to a long page will help users find what they are looking for easier.

    Bill2006:

It is true that there are statistics that state a small majority of users use 1200 w resolution. I wonder how many of them realize it make things smaller (not larger). 12font at 1200w is smaller than 10font at 800w.
Too many trend followers not enough thinkers.

Eventhough the resolution makes everything smaller. The width still makes an impact. When I go home to do extra work, my website uses the horizontal scroll bar. .... Now, I really don't like it that way, since I still comeback from everything needs to be said in one page.. NO scrollbars needed. I will work on the pictures..see how I can adjust the pics.

    Thanks for the tips.
