Thread: Revised my Ghost hunters site feedback please

I revised the website to have different backgrounds, also i added a shoutbox and a chat, i removed the fog due to javascript issues{BUMMER}
unable to get contact us email to work but will eventually. but in all let me know what you think please.

I like the setup. The site is great. I like the photos. The background is awesome. Did you use the Voda software to build it? From a paranormal fan, I think it is awesome. Good job.

Interesting site you have there, I like the background on your home page and the music very atmospheric, but I do think you need to tidy it up a little ..only small things but they would make your site look much more professional .. you have a small margin on the left and none on the right..the margins at the sides of your text area are different to, also maybe line your menu bars so that they are the same height.

Theres a long scroll down the page with nothing on it ,then some banners..maybe bring them up further and line everything up..centre your pages to and check for any spelling errors...Thrieve....did you mean Thrive?

thank you both yeah that > margin i cant seem to get rid of it i had it soon as i placed the time/date on it thinking of moving the buttons up a tad to cover it but some i wont be able to and you are correct the thrive was my error was tired...and yes my site was built using bluevoda software other widgets i got from other sites the logo on top i paid for that bloody thing, the shoutbox and chat i scoured the internet for something useful and free but removed their link so it won't effect my site.
had fog effect but that was $24.00 down the drain but i may have some use for it. oh and as for the long endless empty space... it will be filled eventually.i may have to remove all my clocks. thanks for feedback.

ok update ...hmmm added a few more widgets this time i added a java chatroom for basic text chat, my V.C. is basically voice chat by using teamspeak, added a countdown to certain events we may be doing like search of the mothman, investigating the amityville house, and so fourth, also added a donation button on main page and what the donations go towards is explained on main page text,decided to make all pages same except the EVP page, but cannot get donate button to target blank so it can lead away from site with new windows guess that once a person makes a donation after end of transaction paypal will have a button to bring them back to my site. i do work a normal low paying job that pays the bills but with our investigation are all helped with donations that goes towards our equipment, or sometimes fuel for vehicles. lodging and food are at our expense. so i see Bethers sometimes make comments on donations but sometime some places has to take donations whether it be money wise or people donating equipment like extention cords, tape, digital voice recorders to collect evps, infra red cameras to pick up anomalties when its dark, etc. anyone has any suggestions on site?

Too bad about the fog, it was cool, but agree with you , but your site still looks foggy so that is a good thing.

A couple of things, I can't really get a good look at your cap and t-shirt on your merchandise page, so wouldn't know whether I wanted to purchase it.

On your calendar, it seems as though your counter and powered by voda host is in the wrong spot, consider moving it down off the calendar ...

I find the writing small on some of your pages, the equipment page and investigations page for sure ....

You seemed to have used a nav button at the top of each nav bar,
"our site Nav Bar" and "Links": ... perhaps they would be better if they were stand alone words, just a thought ....

Certainly sounds spooky and remains to amaze me .... looking great!!

hi there - we were looking at your translated pages and caught a misspelling on your english page that is affrecting the translations first paragraph alot should be a lot - as it wont translate as one word.

Looking better each time. The Bg is great but if you resized your page wouldn't you be able to get less of the tiling effect in the BG? I think it takes away from the page if the tiling is so obvious. One other thing that I noticed is the word legit no "e".

thanks a heap on the feedback i completely redone site this time i have to add my buttons back in the merchandise page redid bg cannot get that dang > off of some parts on site looked, trace, etc cannot find it. will look into the page that is misspelled. ahhh legite thanks bud

ok removed the E from legite now is legit , also spaced (a lot ).

Jim, you've done an amazing job ... everything is loading very very quickly here for me, and you really really organized it, and I can also read everything .... wow ... great job!!

If what you meant " spaced alot" is that the alignment of the text needs work then......Try this. First capitalize so if . So if....... even try "anyone charging" drop other words....and save character space if needed try we as a non profit organization charge "no fee"..... Change West Virgina..drop "are and":... drop "lots of " leave off "we collect info.", it is obvious "the amount collected". This will save many characters and your text will align better.

It looks much better. See other thread. But are and makes no sense. If music is on for few minutes it starts to skip and just give off noise........ We thrive also is not right a better way if you must use thrive might be thrive on giving........or we strive to give.
There are also many instances of wrong case letters, I'll look it over and let you know what I see, if you want. Do you first
use a text editor with grammer and spellcheck, or write it as you go on your page.

nope choco i use my own spelling i wish bv had a spell checker oh virginia is spelled that way as for thrive its like to give yeah i have bad grammer but will eventully get the hang of it and please any help is great i just got through with whole site in german text but 99.8% is accurate the other 2% is not my fault missing characters, right now i am only going for 4 different languages german, italian, spanish, and french and of course english. so if you dont see the other flags right away i am doing it all like i was rebuilding site it takes 6 hours or more to do each of them manually and after each language is completed then you will see the flags appear.

Virginia is spelled "Virginia are" hmmm interesting. What does the "are and" mean? We collect alot of...of course that is what makes you the authority..needs maybe other wording. As for thrive it just doesn't fit, maybe "we thrive on"..., regional colloquialisms are fine in certain areas but you are trying (I think) to reach a much broader audience, therefore there are many who will not understand, or misunderstand, or question the sophistication and business savy of the person who created the website where these words are found. It is better, in my opinion to stick to well thought out wording for your text. I question the fact that the German is 98% correct. I have not used German in years but it does not translate that way to me and I speak fluent German and Spanish. I made an offer but it went unanswered so good luck with Babelfish and your interesting site, I'll be looking forward to the end results. One more ditty, (ditty how many ways can that be translated, wow) try to use MSWord that probably came in the package when you setup your windows or other program, they usually have text editors, or download works online, you will save alot of work,....speaking from experience. For starers sind is plural as noted you interpretation shows as one person....Befunden is best for stating locations...the umlaut on the vowels was purposely left out but is needed or you can just add the e that is missing for the next letter.
Some people will try to pas off Africaans for german words.

yeah i am using babelfish as translations doing my best and when i stated 98% meant that the missing stuff was not my fault but figured it out i needed to have my pages set to western european iso 8859-1 then all set up well i just let babelfish translate my website then i copy and paste into existing page and save as once completed to De_index.html or it_index.html so that i won't over write the one in english. once i am completely done with translation parts be it good or bad i will do spell checks and all on all pages and revise them asap. almost done with italian last one espanol.

Hello Jim, I like your homepage alot. And I also think that you chose the right song for a Ghost Hunters website. Along with the right music, it really can make you tired and never gets annoying. But I noticed a few things that occured which I have no idea if they were intentional or not. Here they are:

- Notice that alot of your banners are overlapping.

- Some of your links have words behind them and you can't see what the links say.

- Some of your links/words are in the middle of the lines.

- You need alot more room for your banners.

- You have way to many banners; Maybe try to put in some pictures related to the banners or delete some. I also suggest putting some more writing in. I was curious about "The Mothman", Which I'm sure many other folks were to. Maybe put some information on that to. Thank's

ryan check your settings on your explorer sometimes that can occur make sure your setting is on medium not large or small. i checked site as you requesting and it shows good even checked on wifes pc as well she had same problem as what you discribed and i checked her settings it was on large not medium as soon as i clicked on medium it all came together as it should nice and neat. :) on your explored go to view then text size and you will find settings.

Ok now for update i am almost completed with language spanish is all thats left also i added a new feature to site i need feedback whether it is better to have a magnifier to view photos or continue with coppermine as a gallery...

Hey mate, Maybe you can put your links to ._top on the navigation. That way when you watch the videos on the other sites the music on your site doesn't get in the way. Thank's.

hmm just wrote so this may be a double take i fixed music to play out once then after that no more until site is relaunched.

alrighty then now i am finished hopefully with language i have english, german, italian, french, and spanish. whether or not the language or flags are correct is for people in that language to check it out and let me know.

Impressions Jim, impressions. Anyway I thought that you wanted me to translate the site. Oh well, not much time wasted. Everyone will be able to look at your site and see what it offers and it doesn't really need any sophisticated language translation.
BTW jim wasn't Amityville shown to be a hoax as far as paranormal activities. I think shortly after the first movie or just after the big brujaja over one or the other it was uncovered on 60 minutes. Just fmi.

OK look at site now everyone added orbs that float about on main page, removed multi language due to misinterpretations thanks to navaldesign for that information on the Italian language as he stated some of the language can be understood but as a client or other means, it would not be a professional site, so English it is.you all are a big help. now that this site is partially completed for now time to get another server some where and build my gift shop. for some reason Soholaunch won't install into a a folder so i can use it with my server i have with bv nor does cube cart or zen.

update: added a mini mall to my site as wel as blue floating orbs and a pulsing growth near house entrance on page let me know how it looks please.
