Question Is Loch Designs ready for seo now?

    Hi,
I think we've finally finished, and have it where we want it to be. Please give one final look and tell us if there is anything else needing fixed.
We have changed every page from all the advice given, and are hopeful that we can concentrate on adding jewellery to the store, and slowly over the coming months looking at the seo side of the site.
Again thanks for all the critiques, gotta love this forum, and Bluevoda.
    Regards,
    Jock.

    G' Day Mate,

I didn't see your web site before, but I'll give my feed back for what I saw now.

Actually you have too many links in your home page and they are a bit (sorry to say that) not arranged properly, my suggestion are as following:

1 - put main links like : home, Products, special maintenance, about us, contact us, links, sitemap

2 - then, put a sub directories in each one, like earrings, bracelets etc etc under products,........ care , cleaning etc under maintenance and so on.

it will be easier for your visitor to navigate and find what they want.

    Cheers.

Nice layout. I agree with Nite, but also, the homepage takes very long to load and im running at 2mb. Think of people that are still on dialup! People get bored of waiting for websites to load up so you have to make sure you fix that!

When clicking on SHIPPING, I get this:

    - The certificate for "www.lochdesignsjewellery.com" is signed by the unknown Certificate Authority "Secure Business Services CA". It is not possible to verify that this is a valid certificate

Some people will NOT accept this !!!!!!!!!

btw: I would change my title page to fit in with the page description text if I were you..............

good luck with your site, it looks goooood............

well looks rather good you've worked hard since the last time i saw it, but on the pendant section there is a pendant 2 when i click on it a security thing popped up just to go to page 2 so i didn't i didn't accept it.
also on each page you have a button check basket some are good not touching lines but found a few that overlaps lines. all your pages loads quickly for me. but i agree with david on what he has written. get that taken care of.

Personally, on a store, it's hard to have too many links on the home page - BUT - you have to have the links to all the product pages - maybe you could add a footer - put the product pages into navigation - and the other pages at the bottom of the page.

I also don't like having the text change in the navigation from brown to the pale color. Pick one and keep it the same on all of them.

If you want the store to be found by se's and to sell, optimizing has to be part of the building process from day one. All you page titles need to be corrected. You need to remove any underlined text that isn't a link to another page. Each page needs to have a headline telling exactly what the page is about - using the important keywords on the page.

Your navigation should be in the same place on all pages - so that the site is very easy for people to navigate. And if you want to sell, don't make people go to a 2nd page to find the navigation to the sales pages. The more clicks someone has to go to to find what they're looking for, the less chance you have of selling them anything.

All the information pages are great - but those would be better having a link to a page with a bulleted list of links to all the info pages.

    Hi Jock

You've got some issues going on. You have both a rapid ssl, but you are using a paypal cart. They are making the security popup trigger, as the ssl is issued to you, but you are going off site to paypal to process payments, and some how you have your pages linked to htttps instead of just http. Go back and check your links to your next pages and your product pages. They dont need to be in the htttps. Actually you dont need the dedicated ip using paypal at all.

Hi, and thanks for all comments.
It goes to show that there is no better teacher than experience, and I have good teachers at vodatalk.
Back to the drawing board. I didn't think this was going to be easy, but I didn't know it would be so hard. I thought the SSL was going to engender confidence, and security, not screw things up. I might have things sorted by next Christmas at this rate.
    Cheerio for now!

    Hi again,
I have made changes to all pages, have spent all day in front of my screen. Have changed all links etc., and hope the security warnings have gone away (far far away!)
I have had a look on the net and see one or two minor problems. eg the links at the bottom of home page. Please tell me of the bigger ones!
As for slow download I'm not sure how I can fix that as I've re-sized all pics. Anyhow, please have another look and advise.
    Regards, and thanks,
    Jock.

I feel that the most important things that need attention were all mentione in the Bethers, Niteproducer and Karen Mac posts. I did not see your site if it was up for review before but I find it difficult to really get a feel for the jewelry without more professional lighting. Some of the pieces or parts of them, look intricate but without better lighting they just don't show as they should. I know there is a limit to the photo and what it can show, but I personally would take it to that limit, if only on a feww select pieces. It does look nice but the technical issues mentioned should be addressed. good luck, I hope it serves you well.

    Jock,

Nice job! Youve been working very hard and sorry Ive missed this until now to tell you so. You should see some sales on this!

To Solve some of the picture issues mentioned above, you can upload a larger picture and link to it from the smaller picture, if and when you get them. Isnt something that has to be immediately tackled, just a suggestion for as you work and optimize. Larger picture can open in its own little window and you dont even need to put it on a page anywhere, just up it and link to it.

As you work on your link trading, be careful to keep them in categories rather than free for all linking and maybe giving each category a page after it grows to more than 3 or 4 links. This way it gives your link trades the appearance of some importance as they can be found on a page rather than having to skim thru a long list.

Over all... 2 thumbs up! Good job!
    Karen

Hi again, and thanks for all input.
Every comment has been noted and I am looking at all aspects of the site. I think I need time to sort out every issue raised, as my head is starting to hurt from the effort of thinking!
I will start with Beth's suggestions, and I am already working on the photos as I've never been truly happy that the pics did justice to the jewellery. I will also look at ways to speed up loading of the pages. As I said, next Christmas looks about right for getting it near right.
Anyhow, if I haven't posted before then, have a great Christmas, and God bless,
    Jock of Loch

beautiful stuff you have there! I am seeing a second line of type on this page http://www.lochdesignsjewellery.com/ it overlays your header and I think says wire jewelry. Anybody else seeing that?

Other than that, it looks good to me.
