Here is what I have come up with so far! No content yet, but layout is almost all done. What do you think?

    Looks good.
That scrolling on the side -
The email appears as admin@electronics4dummies.c might want to link it too.
Consider linking the green boxes and not the words, avoid underlining.

Personally, I think the green boxes are a tad too big. But this is a giant step forward from what you had before.

I like the pictures in the header.

You need to center the page onto your background - right now it's further to the left than right - my eye caught that immediately.

You also have the entire page as an iframe? That's not going to stay that way, is it? I'm hoping that's just while you're working on it?

It is like an iframe. I need that so that the content can be dynamic. I have a page called template.htm that each of my pages go to for the header. I am working on centering it right now.

You don't want the entire page to be dynamic - only a section of it - and you can rest assured you'll hurt the page with the se's if you do it that way.

the association that I am working with doesn't want SE's. This is going to only be for members.

It is my personal opinion that you would be better off (and the association better served) if you simply use a Blue Voda Template..... I found more than 7 that would work superbly for this website!

Valiant effort, but your position is about to be overrun, soldier.
Throw the greneade, and make haste to the rear to emerge to fight yet another day.

It's obvious that you will not heed the suggestions made in kindness (i.e.the use of hot colors and abrubt shapes that are shoddily prepared), and I believe this association deserves a better solution and surely a more refined representation of VodaTechnology......

Nice layout. I also think that the green buttons are a little too big other than that, its cool. Lol just noticed when you click a link a little "Hello" comes up lol. Nice!. The announcement box is cool!

Cant wait to see it complete!

I believe that I will keep my current layout with minimal adjustments instead of going with a template because I want it to all be my own... Anyone can just use a template; few can build a good looking website on their own. :) I used to use templates, but I HATED them.

I will shrink the button sizes. :)

Let us know when they are shrunk. I think once you have done that, the page will look really excellent.

    Hi,
I admire you for saying that you prefer to not use a template for your site,it may take you a while to get it just as you would like but you will appreciate your own work a lot more.Bravo, stick to your guns.

and wiggytuftuk; That has been my mindset since I began creating websites. I don't believe in using something another person has created unless you have to. And yes, I will apreciate it a lot more. :)

I agree about not using templates - that's why I love BV and will use BV for my stores and the shopping cart option I do - so my stores ARE MINE and don't look like anyone else's out there.

Looking very good and I agree with you - and your sense of accomplisment will be much more, also.

Funny thing with the hovering over the green buttons: you can hover over the text and it turns red but the button is still green. Or you can hover over the button and it turns purple but the text is still black. Is it supposed to do that?

Personally I don't much like animated gifs so the fire raging at the top kind of distracts my eye from the rest of the page.

And just something funny ... that bunch of firefighters posing for a picture in front of a burning building. You'd think they'd be fighting the fire!

Leoni_V, it is called a burn-to-learn. Someone will call in wanting their house burned down, so the fire department will check to see if it is safe, and will burn down their house, and be training at the same time.

As for the fire at the top: they like it a lot... See, they are an association for the training division... RITA= Rogue interagency training association.

I kinda like the buttons and the text. I thnk it is cool, and yes, that is what I meant for it to do.

I will sone have pictures of them fighting fires... they were really excited to hear that I could put a rotating image on their.

As long as the client likes it, that's okay then!

Wow, I can't imagine ever wanting my house burned down, haha! But I guess it makes sense to use such events as training.

Here is an example of someone who wanted their house burned down... They live in the rural part of my city, and they have a really old house on a large plot of land. They built a new house behind that house, and no longer need the old one. Now, you could aPay money to have it taken down, and pay for the dumping, or BHave fireman train so that they can be more ready for structure fires, and have the house gone completely.

It's a great idea! (for people in this kind of situation)

I am soooo happy all of a sudden... I found an ajax script that works! No more using Iframes. Those blasted Iframes... It wasn't working in IE7 so lets see if it does now... Does it work for you guys? If you could, could you tell me if the page shows up right in your browser? Just post the name of your browser and if it worked or not. Thanks, Pemdas21. :)

Ah, now I understand it better, thanks! In South Africa we mostly build with brick and stone, so burning doesn't take a place down completely, you're left with the walls still standing which you then have to pay to take down and dump... but that explains why the concept is so strange to me :-)

Looks like everything's still ticking along nicely! I don't know if this is a problem or not... clicking a link reloads the whole page which starts the shoutbox off again from scratch. Just a small thing, it might not be worth much bother
