    Red face Ready To Launch?

    Hi guys,

I had to make it a little wider, would you mind checking to see if it looks OK.

    Beth any hints or ideas?

How wide is the page? It seems wider than even I go! You could make the nav bar in two rows and eliminate the torch lights if necessary, to make it less wide. I didn't check the actual width tho.

You need to work on page titles - home isn't a good one :)

Actually 957 isn't too wide - I build at 1000 - for some reason (I wasn't on my computer) I was seeing it wider - but probably that computer was using a lower resolution. That's why I asked.

Either stay at 800 or under or you'll have the side scroll - so then the next size to stay under is 1124 - so I just work around 1000.

No, your page title has to be a title that tells people and se's what they will find on that page - preferably using keywords/keyword phrases that they use to search for. Maybe something like Kids Write the Book -

No lolol - I'm talking about the page title - where it currently says home - I recommend you get your keywords for what the site is about. I haven't done research on it - but even making it say instead of home:
Children Write the Book - The Everlasting Story

You want search engines (and therefore people) to find this website - and the only way is to be using terms that people search for. You need these terms in the title and in links pointing to the pages. (Usually on the page itself, too - but your site doesn't lend itself to that on the home page.

You then need to make a good title for each page that reflects the page it's on and has keywords in it - not simply "Dedication" or "Chapter 1"

Something else. On the title page - the title "The Everlasting Story" is on two lines - that's fine - but the 2nd line needs to be centered under the first. Then the tag line "A story for children written by children" is overlapping the title word Story. That needs to be moved down.

Unfortunately, I also don't think - the way it's laid out - that people who find the site, will have any clue what it's about or how to do it. It requires really looking at it and looking around. I think you need to have a home page that really explains what you are doing - that this is a book right now being written by the kids - and that kids can continue to write it -

I love the concept but just feel like it's only going to be seen and understood by those you send it to who look because they're friends - and those of us here who take the time. You need to appeal to the people and the kids - because I do think you want to make money from this and I think it can - it's a very novel idea - which you should be able to get some press on also - but people coming to the site have to quickly understand it.

It's better - but you still don't understand page titles. Do you think anyone is searching using the words written-by-kids with the dashes? Or even without the dashes? I just looked and no searches either way. This has to be terms people are using - and so does that little bit of text on the page. One more thing - you do NOT have to change the NAME of the page you're publishing it with - although the name written-by-kids is a better name - so leave that - but the title doesn't have to be the same.

How about a title to the home page of:
Kids Write the Book - Children Write The Everlasting Story

Then the paragraph you wrote changed maybe to this:
This book is a continual work in progress of our children writing it page by page. Kids have wonderful imaginations and what better than them continuing this delightful story. Each child will be given credit for the page(s) they write. Read the story and join today so your child can contribute his or her wonderful ideas.

Then make the Read the story be clickable to the start of the book and join today clickable to the join page.

    Dear Beth,

I don't know how to thank you as I'm sure I will continue to ask for your help........You are a doll.

OK, one more question....What do you mean by clickable... just set up like a click here?

No, you want to highlight the words I mentioned and make THOSE words click to the respective pages. No need for a "click here" - those are usually annoying :)

    And I'm glad to help.
