Thread: Whew!

Ok, I am at least on the internet....I haven't really gotten anything much done but I exist!
For your information....I am a kindergarten level with the internet stuff so please bear with me, ok?
I am not looking for all the glitz and beauty that I see all of you have on your sites....just a simple lil thing is good enough for me.
I do not know how long it will take me to get it all together but I have a least started.
If any of you can give me some simple guidlines or help it will be soooooo appreciated!

Oh My God!
I was looking at some of the other new sites listed here and I am awestruck!
I am a novice I know but geeze you guys look great! All of you -- well thats my opinion.
Since I go by simplynikki, simple is okay, right????

you'll do fine and you will see that the sign you see down the road while building your site doesn't say finished it reads close, seems you never get there. You get plenty of help right here, I know I did and still do. So far so good, except the colors don't work , the green fades into the black in the desert, not too fond of the purple either....none of the links? or underlined words work,probably working on those......the box that is around the text needs to be moved down. Keep on working on it.

No I do not have any links or such even started yet. The text I wrote is underlined only for more added emphasis -- wasn't intending links there but hey, that is an idea.
Sorry you don't like the colors...they are my trademark if you will by those that know me....my two favorite colors.

My head was hurting just from getting that much done....sigh.

I have to keep on pounding away....tomorrow is another day.

I agree with Chocco on the color choice across your picture. You can't read it and you want people to be able to read what you write. I am a big fan of purple and green but not when it hinders your progress.
Also, you stated that the underlining was for emphasis on certain words.... that won't fly on the internet. People have been trained to see an underlined word as a working link to another page. I, for one, automatically tried to open the link...

I also tried to click on the underlined words to see if they went anywhere. The text in your header is very hard to read and I also tried to click on them as that could have possibly been where the site navigation was located.

Pretty color scheme though.....You will get unbelievable help thru this whole forum....There is so much information here and so many good people willing to help as long as you keep your mind open and your emotions out of it and never take anything personal. You will learn quickly and have fun in the process.

hello simplenikki,good that have a head start, but as all of the above ppl have also stated, i would also like you to emplasize of ur choice of color. as u have tried to be simple, so be it and try to stick to simple colors too.hope to c some changes sooncheers.

I think youve done a great job so far well done! and I also think green n purple are fab colours, but can I just make a suggestion?...well i'm going to anyway lol ...maybe try the colours in a darker shade so they arent so dazzling on the eyes....I do agree tho that your banner should be free of clutter...hope you dont mind but ive done a little sample of what I mean, ...great job keep the colours.

Nikki! Hi and welcome to Vodaland! I think you have done a great job so far. It is so hard to get an idea, then to paper, then to the screen. I know I have done and redone my site so many times, and as Choco said, it is an ongoing journey. I like your colors, but they are hard on the eyes. Linda's sample is good too! She is so awesome with her ideas! If you want to stay with your trademark colors you might want to play with your background color a little and see if that helps soften the look. Ditto to the comments on the underlining. Keep up the good work and when you have more done and links to other pages, let us see them okay?

Hi Nikki,

You have it all there already all I used where the shapes tool squashed and stretched them to make the lines and here are the colour numbers if you want them...use custom colours in your colour pallette, in page properties

Green

Hue 180 ...Red 0
Sat 240... Green 119
Lum 56.....Blue 0

Purple

Hue 180...Red 47
Sat 240...Green 0
Lum 44....Blue 94

I did two layouts for you to consider, but without even looking at Linda's, they might not be needed after all. Oh, well!

I tried to use your "favorite colors" in a very balanced manner, in order to get the template/page to "pop" off the screen, so that your entire website would look like a picture, a work of art.....

PS: Unless you are "locked in" to this particular template, there a few more I think might work better for you, in my opinion.

(Sending this to you intact is super-easy, as it is merely shapes and the BV template)
