Talking New Look For Beez World

    Hi All,

Well I realize i've been away for a sometime and i have it but all for a good reason. I've been busy doing some writing...finding out a lot about what it takes to publish an e-book and redoing my website. In between i've had one wedding to attend and nother coming up very soon...ahhh...you know spring is in the air....lol.

And to top it all off..i've been away so long ...i didn't realize my VH IP had changed but as soon as found out i wasn't nuts and not accidentally in the twilight zone, i was ableto resolve the problem.

So now on with the show or rather the critiques....I ask you one and all for your most wise and astute observations on my my newly done website. I havea few things i'm still redoing as i lost some work due to some freaky weather over the last few days and so some pages are not completely finished as i'm r-inputting the info.

As ususaly i've got my armor on and ready for all the critiques...ROFL. I want to see your views good and bad before i launch the site and resubmit to all the search engines.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi Beez, welcome back, you have been missed.................

Now, Where has all the content gone from your original??

Some of the underlined links in blue are not working.
and it might be a good idea to have a Next Page and Previous Page links on each page of your book(looks as if you are turning the pages)

Nice idea in total but still need a lot of work, sorry Beez...........

BTW: Where is the E-Book that you have mentioned, I would love to get a preview for my "Your Local E-Book Center"

    Keep having fun my friend.

I agree with David and found it a bit confusing to navigate, I did prefer your old one, just my opinion.

Welcome back though and I am sure you will get it just how you want it.

Thanks guys...ok..i guess its back to the drawing board. David i will be advertising the book on the forum by the end of the week as i Plan to launch it on the new website next week.

I was hoping to makethe website feel like someone was reading a book. I also wanted it to be strictly about writing and therefor took out the 'travels' and 'recipes' pages. I may re-introduce the travels page if there seems to be a consensus on keeping it in. LOL....nothing like my forum buddies to keep me on my toes.

So i guess i have a lot of work to get the website really less confusing and more easy to navigate. I was thinking of the next page and previous page idea David but thought that the nav bar at the bottom would hve been better...but i guess i may have to find another less confusing way to direct traffic and maybe add a few more 'chapters' for other things that i am thinking of adding. Keep the views coming people. I really apreciate...nothing is negative ...its all constructive. An Paul thaks for your opinion...it was nice to know that that my old site was liked...lol.

Ok..i'll be working on this then .

Glad you're back, too, Beezz, missed ya.

I just had a short look at your site, and I am having a bit of a hard time getting around, too. Well not hard, but it could be easier.

The pages are just a hair too long for me, so I have to scroll down to get to the navigation. I would love to be able to click on one of the corners top right or left to 'turn' the pages.

On your blog page the blog part has a sideways scroll for me inside the frame. Maybe the recent post part could be outside the frame or something to give the actual blog, (which I want to read), more room? No, I've got it, how about some tabs on the side for each chapter, or something like that, then you click the tab to go to the chapter, which would be the blog or whatever but it would fill the whole pageon theleft, the next on the right, then page turns, more of it...am I making any sense at all?

Love the fun and games for qwiter's bloc stuff, great fun..

I am not seeing the short stories or poetry are you still adding that?

I like the general idea like the open book look - nice.

    So there you go..

    Hi David,

Do you mean the one on the website ....really...i found it on a site with free graphics...wish i remmebered where now...i forgot to write it down to givethem credit for it. As for the e-book...Jeremy and his crew helped me with the graphics as I suck at that...lol...and they have gone near and far to find the right images to go with each o my poems that I chose for this first effort. I hope when it is launched ...it will be a hit.

Thank you David and with all the great suggestions i've already received...i'm working to make it better.

And David I will be gettign in touch with you soon...I just want to be sure there is no conflict of placing my book with other sellers as Mobipocket has stipulations on so many things...lol...but if all is ok...then i'll send all necessary info to have it on your site.

    Thanks again David....and everyone else....:)

Hi Beez! Nice to see you again. btw..i gave up on the im thing. To much for me to learn! lol. Also..your texas friends, never emailed me back? I guess they got things taken care of themselves? Anyway...

You website sure has changed a lot! I think it has a lot of potential, but without much content there yet, I did find it difficult to navigage. David is right in the Sharon has done something along the book line. look at the link to her site. http://www.theeverlastingstory.com/written-by-kids.html.
I really like the concept, but needs a bit of re-working. How about a table of contents? I'll check back as you progress!
    Cindy
    Cindy,

thanks for your comments on Chris's thread. I forgot that Sharon had used the book idea for her site with the story BUT the nice thing is that we are using them in differnt ways and so its all good. I checked Sharons pageand it sure is nice...i was originally going for a messy desk with book on it sor of look but them I decided to keep it simple.

I am working on making it more NAvigation friendly and will be putting one of my short stories on it bfore I launch it officially on Monday.

I really wish I knew flash and was a graphics person but for now this is what I've taught myself and it'll have to do until I get better...lol.

Oh and I haven't heard from the Texas folks either...so I guss they are alright.

    Thanks for trying.

    Hello Beez

I think you have a bit of work before you launch this ...

Only a suggestion here ... but you seem to have a lot of pages on your site, that really don't suit the look of a "book for a background", only my opinion, right ...

I see your poetry as pages in a book, that would be nice touch, but only your poetry ...

But I see the rest of your content on your site, being on what I might call regular style web pages ... I have some thoughts if you want to talk about it ... it's up to you ...

    Hi LE,

Thanks for the comments and I woudl love to hear what ideas you have. I origianlly was gonna go with a writers desk but as i said earlier...my gaphic attempts left me a little flustered so i wen t for the simple book idea. Just to be clear though...I am not using the book solely asa way to present my work but as a tool to fill pages with info for other writers. I am using it simply as a background tht is a bit more ineresting than the plain background I had before. I probably could make the writing a bit smaller and i'm gonna change the font and am adding a nicetabbed side navigation for easier navigation.

But I truly welcome all ideas and I know you have a good deal of graphic experience so I look forward to your suggestions.

Having some BV problems and have not laoded the corrected pages but wil ldo so as soon as i cna get it to open. Shut down on me for some reason...hmmm...maybe it didn't like the new website either...lol.

I swear I took only 3, and there were a lot more left!

I like the "book" aspect.....too bad the pages do not actually "turn" as would a photo album thingy. I have been looking for just such a 'template' to use for "brochures" online which could then be downloaded (in a PDF format, mimicing the online version?).

I am still at Sans Souci if you have the gumption to ring me up, you know...leaving Monday after a week of acki for breakfast and all the Ting I can drink on the beach! LOL

Looking forward to your site being refined a bit (loaded fully), as I think it demonstrates the evolution of your writing talents and should thus serve you well!

Am also very interested on how you decided to list your eBook with Amazon (and accomplished that) rather than solely from your site? Exposure???

There is a script where you can have a book on a page and have the pages turn. Saw it just a week or so ago - but don't remember where.

However, Beez, in your case, on the book pages, can I suggest you have the page fade in using the "wipe left" - I think that's the one that would give the closest impression of a page turning - and will match those book pages better than now. Of course, it doesn't work on all browswers, but does in IE and that's the browswer most still use.

    Vasili,
I'm not Beez, but anyone can have their book on Amazon - you simply sign up to sell a product on Amazon- and when it sells, they collect and take their portion and send the rest to the seller.

Exposure???

Sure you only took a 3...uh huh...lol...anyhoo good thing i brought another couple sacks of cookies for everyone...so dig in....lol

Thanks Beth for the suggestions and the link. I have after the reviews decided to redo the site and with Lady eyes' help. umm actually she's doign the site and thank god cause this lets me get back to doing what I love and that is WRITING. I'm hoping you will all look at it again and tell me what you think. I decided that my lil bee guy had to be back on the site as everyone seemed to like him and given it a more vibrant colourful look. Hope you all like it.

Vasili as Beth said...just about anyone can sign up for Amazon...their Mobipocket.com section is the one that now sells their e-books and here is the link. Mobipocket After doing alot of research I decided this was the best option for me as they represent a large number of e-book sellers worldwide and it means as you said more exposure for me. Also not all top e-book sellers take on self publishers like me unless they coem through a company or sort of holding house like amazon. Another factor why i chose this route. They do take 50% of the cut though so it is a personal decision for all.

    PS - General..I called..you're out sunning I guess and drinking more TING...lol. I'll try again....hehehe

Thanks, Luv......the links are indeed helpful.

It was a joy to speak with you the other day! I suppose it is rather rare nowadays for VH'ers to actually hear one another, and had we the chance to actually kick back together on the terrace, I am sure we would have bragging rights for many a moon, eh? Definitely next trip....

    Hi there
I enjoyes the site but as the other comments have said it was difficult to navigate. plus on the links at the side of the book image there were spaces where there should not be spaces. looked a bit messy and I prefered your old one. But I am sure that you will reinvent it and come up with something fab!! good luck
