    Hello Everyone,

I finished the initial building of my store. Would you please critique it and let me know what you think?

Everyone and every critique is welcome.

    Hi, Ted.

It looks excellent to me. I like the layout and colours, I found it easy to navigate, the choosing products and adding to cart was simple enough and the navigation works a treat. I didn't try every single page but did try about half and they worked perfectly. I didn't spot any glaring errors and found your site very informative with a good write up on each of your products. Sterling job, Sir, and I wish you the very best of luck with your site.

    Hi Nite Producer,

Thanks for the nice comment. I am trying, although I don't know what "very defending" would mean.

The site looks excellent, nice colours and well layed out as mentioned before. The only part of the site that let it down, i though, was the bottom part which seemed messy and unkept. just a simple replacing and alligning exercise should sort this and make it look more proffesional. Good luck with your site.

    Hi Ted,
You've heard from me before :) - right now I simply suggest you add alt text to the left and right pics on the home page - as they don't have it now.

I also like how you've expanded the website into other items.

    You've done a great job.

I had one problem - when I took a product to the shopping cart - then clicked back to go back to the store - it kept me on secure pages. Shouldn't they go back to the regular pages then? And after I have something in the cart - shouldn't there be a link on the pages to go back to check out (go back to the shopping cart?) You don't have that option on most pages, and I had to go to another product and add it to the cart to get back there. You'll lose some sales this way!

(There's always something else, isn't there!)

    Hi Mook25,

Thank you for the kind words. I will work on the lower part of the pages as I thought that also, but have been, up to this point, unable to work on the store as much as I wanted to.

I will probably have it done in a few days.

    Beth,

Thank you for looking at my store (again). I put the photos on the front page in a way that I cannot put alt tags on the pictures, all I can go is link the pictures to something. This may be partly a way to do an alt tag. I think I will have to look at this next weekend when I have the time to change it.

I don't understand what you mean about the checkout. Does this mean that I will have to go through each product and check to see what is on the checkout page information? Do you have any idea why some would have the link to the checkout and some would not?

I tried to go through the "add to cart" process and was taken to the six item listing of the products--and if I wanted to go to a different area to look at some specific products I had to go back to the catagory and add it this way--or spend a lot of time looking at six items at a time--all in random order.

I am not totaly sure how to do as you suggested, but I will look at it all this weekend.

    Thank you,

Ted, your home page and many of the product list pages, do not have the right side bar with the choice of seeing the cart and or even of searching for products that is on the product pages. I don't know if you can change it so that's on all pages in Soho or not - but if you can, that would solve the problem.

    Hi Beth,

Thanks for the info. I will look for a way to put the search box and the cart on the pages. I think there is a way to do this, but I will get it solved.

I suppose I may have to look at a different template, which is something I don't really want to do.

I do know there are scripts somewhere that I should be able to use for what you are suggesting.

I will look into SoHo a little deeper. One thing I will also do is go back to the SoHo forum and see if they have anything about it or how it can be fixed.

    Beth,

One other thing I wanted to tell you. I am deactivating the hosting on SOL today for this particular store. So now VodaHost has that store in their system totally.

    Hi Ted..

Not much I can add, as Ive sorta HELPED u on the way. In the shopping cart module, display is where you change where the search bar appears and how many products on a category page display. If you cant find it, you know how to reach me :)

Congrats on moving off SOL! You will find the stress level decreased 99% and your site up 99% as well as happier customers!

    Ted,
Karen and I are arguing about this :) - as her store is the same way - told her she needs to do the same - so hopefully she'll figure out what to do -

Yes, I discovered you can navigate from the right bar - BUT I think you'll lose sales from people like me who use your actual navigation bar to navigate and can't search or find the cart again. And I also, in looking now, really prefer the page layout that you have displayed from the navigation bar better than what Soho does from the right bar.

If you guys can figure a way around this and put the view cart and search on all pages, you might be able to do away with that right bar :)

    Hi Karen,

Yes you have been a wonderful help along the way. I already knew that the product display was in the cart module as I have it set at six, but may increase it until there is a way to put the search on all the pages for the shopping cart.

The stress went away so fast from moving away from SOL that I wilted and was not able to recover for several hours. (just kidding) I am looking for a long relationship with VodaHost.

    Hi Beth,

I didn't want anyone to argue about this, but if you and Karen are I suppose there couldn't be two better people to do that. You both are whizzes at this. I am a person that takes time to learn. I am going to actively look for a solution as I agree with you that the cart search should be on all pages.

Inspiration is what drives things to get done along with a great big dose of enthusiasm.

    Thanks
