Thread: My first website, would love your opinion

Egar, you've done pretty well for a first website. However, on my browser, I see a lot of overlapping texts...primary the links within the body. Also, some of your link titles are too long. Other than that, I think you've done a marvelous job. Keep up the good work!

No problem. As for the over lapping text, these are all on your home page and here they are:

Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student (link). I am seeing this on the same line as Products--Educational/Referance Software (on what looks like the 3rd line)

OPEN OFFICE! (link). I am seeing this on the line starting with "For the Professional Designer"

3D Home Architect Design Suite Deluxe (link). I am seeing this on the line just below "Learning a new language?"

Rosetta Stone - Learn French (link)

Penda Internet Security 2007 - $15.00 Discount coupon (link)

As for the navigation bar titles, with the buttons that you've chosen, they will look really professional if the texts were centered in the space provided to the right. You wouldn't want them to be anywhere near the star. But the only one that is really apparent is the one labelled "Language Software" I think you should shorten this title and let the alternative text do the explaining.

As AmaDee says the links appear to be the overlapping problem.

around this line We list well known 'Office Products -- Security products--Educational/Referance' there is an overlapping link for microsoft 2007

and the line 'Learning a new language?' there is a link overlapping for design suite deluxe 6

Try also to keep the page at a width of 800 which is what most people are able to view in the screens.

Great sart for a first time website though.

If you are still there I have made some changes and would love if you could take another look.
Also could you tell me why did all these links look perfectly placed when I view my home page, would the fact that I am viewing it on a 19" screen make a difference. The only thing I could see out of what you described was the name on the button being too long

hold on, I'm taking a look...

I can see the changes you have made to the navigation bar...much better. However, I still see the over lap and I'm not sure why that is happening. Would you like me to take a look at your page? If so, email your bv index page to dmapillar********.com

Sorry for being stupid now, but I dont understand what file you mean.
The page I sent is the index page from the bv wedsite builder

but it came to be as an html page. You know the same page that you open up into BlueVoda? That's the one that I need you to send me.

I`m confused now, that is the page I open into Bluevoda.
I go to File-Open Page and click on index from the list in the box.

ok, when you go to upload the file, go to the folder that has you index.bvp (look for the type of file and make sure it say bvp...it should have the bluevoda icon before it) and send it to me.

I think there is something wrong here the file has the Bluevoda icon in front of it but it does not have bvp after it.
When I hold the curser over the name it says Bluevoda Document.

I am back again looking for more opinions
I have just changed some things on my site and generally tried to tune it up a bit, would like to hear your views.
Someone mentioned that the ocean view image may load slowly on a slow computer does anybody have this problem.
All opinions greatefully recieved.
