Thread: New pictures, no more flash, please comment

Hi there, I made some changes in my web

In the English version I have use the banner rotator in the opening page
" index ", and for the pictures in each page, also in the " gallery " I have use the banner rotator.

In the Italian version I have put a fix picture in each page, and for the gallery page " fotografie ", I have used the light box.

Which one of the two versions do you think is better, in loading time, design, etc.?????
I am open to any comment.

I enjoy the banner rotater more as it brings life and excitement to your site, something I believe you want to do to encourage prospective guests to visit you. Looks great!

Mama mia! What a beautiful site. I like the English version. The light box in the Italian gallery is great, looks *****, but the look is a little busy for me.

I prefer the rotator, the viewer can absorb more. You did a fabulous job.

A significant change form your older version, well done !
Both load very quickly although personally, I prefer the Italian site.

Consider a quick jump from the English to Italian and back, so users do not have to return to your intro page.

Hi, catch 22 with most ways of displaying images. The light box on the Italian side is a lot slower to load, but I like the looks & the visitor can choose what to look at.
Downside! The page is over a 1 Meg in just images & I believe that the light box should only be used for the odd 1 or 2 images on a page because of this reason.
In the other gallery, it is a nice slide show, but the visitor doesn’t know how many images there are to come, so will they wait? Maybe a small note to say 10 images in this show.
Personally, I don’t think you can beat the old style of slide show for speed & choice. Just a bit harder to get the looks. This thread may help. http://www.vodahost.com/vodatalk/154385-post7.html

Vicki, you are right, the look of the light box is too busy, I just wanted to put a lot of pictures, and is not easy.
I was thinking, it will be great if the genius behind bluevoda can came up with a different way to display the light box, for example, when the viewer open the gallery page, the first picture should be like a kind of logo saying " click here to see the pictures", and then the light box start to do a kind of slide show!
It is just an idea.

Thank you Jimmac, I have used no filters at all.
I reasized the pictures with PIX Resizer, and use Adobe 3.0 to crop them, and balance a some of the pictures

splandid pics. Caught something while I was exiting though...on the Lounge (edited) and Restaurant page in the English section, the text menu at the bottom (where you have the Award, Menu, ...) is busting out of the text box. Any body else seeing this, or is it my box?

you are right, with my PC everything looks good, but after your advise, I checked it with another PC, and the text was in a different format.
Today I tried to upload the English gallery page and the Italian version with a shape ( dark grey color) behind the pictures, and all the shapes ( white color) in both pages changed color ( dark grey), then I upload them with the original white color, and all the shapes even the untouched ones they became white.
It is one of this days that technology has decided to go on strike.

The changes look good, Alas...BUT, the bottom menus are a little too close to the bottom right pic. On the Restaurant page, it can be moved over to the left, but I don't think that's going to work on the Lounge page. I would consider removing it from this page and putting it on the Home and/or the Gallery page.

May be I can put the awards in the home page and the menu and wines in the restaurant page, and in the lounge just the wine list and add the cocktail menu only.
What do you think Amadee, is this a good idea???

this is exactly what happened to me about 2 weeks ago at www.bulgariaextreme.com but thanks to the grace of amadee she sorted the problem out completely, she is fantastic, and has a massive range of knowledge. she will keep you right if you are struggling that is for sure.

Hi Amadee, there was not enough space in the home page to put the awards links, I though the restaurant page will be good for that link.
This forum is very nice, so many people with good imputs to give, and sharing their knowledge with the others.
