Thread: Help Make My Site Better

Hey everyone, first time posting here. The website is FAR from being done, this is the first time I have ever made a web page, looking for all suggestions and such. As it stands right now, the upload feature does NOT work, I am looking for a script that suits what I would like to get done. Please critique it hard, I would like to know suggestions for where to take the site, suggestions on the overlal look so far, and suggestions for scripts as far as keeping like a membership database and being able to upload files to your own private directiory for each member. The more feedback I get the better I can make my site, and I am really trying to make this the best I can. Do not worry about being harsh, as I said, it is my first page, please flame :) THANKS!

You're off to a good start now its time for fine tuning your work.
-An introduction: what is File Exile would be useful.
-Lot of ads, I know they can make money, ads on both sides can be distracting.
-First check your spelling/grammer: for example "users. files" should be Files. Another suggestion: For each user there will be a private area and a public area can be rewritten as "Each User will have access to a public area and to private files."
-Put something else in your page titles. FAQ and File Exile aren't enough. Consider "Sharing software on line - File Exile"
-Wasn't clear if this is freeware, sahredware or what.
-News: might want to change 'first day...." use the News section to bring your users in, to build your customer base. A lot of visitors may be turned away by your newness.
-Home page is off center and has a slight horizontal scroll.

Okay, the web site has been completly redone, with some script help. I would LOVE to get some suggestions and such, also, some thoughts on keeping it just image files, or shall I go for many other files also. What do you think of the logo....i made it in paint, sad but true. Please hit me hard with thoughts so that I can get my site off the ground.

Everything looks neat and nice except for:
1] Your logo is real messy looking
2] Would be nicer if you center your page.

Thank you for the input, I am working on a new Logo, any suggestions on a Logo maker, or do most people just do it from scratch. As far as centering my page.....How? On some broswers it looks nice....on a few others its way off centered. I am not doing very well at that part of it. Any other suggestions on directions to go with the webpage? I am going to try and install a video file share soon, like a mini YouTube. Thanks so much for the input! I look forward to more.

I like my logo to be neat and simple so I use the Blue Voda logo maker.

To center your page right click your webpage background and select
properties then select "Center in browser".

I like it, I like the whole concept, still a little bit too much confusion with the google, and the advertisement and the other stuff .. also, make sure that you're aloud to do this image hosting thing on this hosting account.

new idea - file exile - (I'm a novice myself...)

As I clicked through the pages I noticed the Exile Premium page is unclear - you may want to adjust the color of the font or background to make clear. Logo is a bit fuzzy from here.

Thank you all so much for the input. I am working on re-doing the File Exile Premium Page, I am not happy with it either. The logo has been changed to something much more simple and less blurry, hopefully it fits the site better. I will be continuing to edit this and get it to where I want it, please, keep the feedback coming and I will try to get this page to where it should be. Also, why couldnt I do this on the server? ...and where would I find out if its ok? I didnt think I was doing anything wrong here, and my bandwidth usage is NO where near the max....its still at 1% lol. Thanks again!
