I love sexy fonts and a French Villa web site certainly deserves one but yours is very difficult on the eyes (even with glasses).

Try making the text bold or choosing a different font (but be careful because not everybody has all the fonts in their PC).

Now, when is the next availability?

Hi, I agree with the fonts issue.

I think your page is too big .

You need to give a lot more informations about your business.
Ex. A map how to get there, prices, more pictures, what is available around the place like , what to see, etc...
Regarding the design. I suggest you have a look of how other website in the same business they look like, just to have some ideas.
Otherwise you can have a beatifull place, but viewers will not apreciate it.
I am in the same business, I have an hotel, and if you like more advise just post, and you will see a lot of people ready to help you in this forum.

    Hi,

I have now amended my homepage taking into account the above suggestions. Could you please review it again for me & let me know if the size is O.K? With regards to Alas's suggestions, this is just my homepage & I will be having further pages for things to see/do & driving directions. My initial photo of my house is not very good but once we get a nice day here then I will take a better picture!!!

    Thanks for your reviews,
    Linda

    Hi,
the size is OK, you should center the page, on page properties check
    " center in browser ".
About your menu button, some text are on top of the logo, and with the mouse over is BlueVoda the logo which shows up.
It will look better if you do some touches there.

    Tazmarlin-

The design is nice. Make sure to center the page. Your links are not working so comments on other pages not possible.

    Keep up the good work.

    Alithos,
Soholaunch is good if you have many items to sell - like an electronics store or selling jewlery etc... Otherwise, BV webbuilder will work just fine with paypal or another cart type system.

    Cheers-

    Hi Linda,
About the menu navig. I do not think you can make them bigger. You have to reduce the text.
Why don't you go for a simple text as navigation, the guru are saying that google like it more.
Or if you like the menu but. look, you can create one.
Look at this web I have used the logo maker and add text on top of it, so I had achieve the two goals: www.advertising-dar.com

    Hi Alas,

Sorry gonna pick your brains again.............I have created my own menu bar which includes an image that I have added. My question is, how can I get all my menu icons to line up on every page? As I have added a sunflower for each button, I have been trying to get them to line up exactly on every page but can't seem to do this as I cant use the gridlines as the buttons are on top of a template so I don't see the gridlines on it?

    Thanks,
    Linda

    Hi Linda,
    Easy:
    1) Open Bluevoda with your index page.
    2) Click on let say the first image of your menu bar, As soon you click you will see down the right side of the browser two small windows. The first (left) is the position in the page of your image : x & y, the second ( center) is the size of your image : w & h.
    3) Now, if your images have the same size you can align them on the new page using the data you have of the position of the image.

You have not publish the new menu bar, so I can not really help you if I do not see it.
    Have you seen my webs?
I create the first page, then I copy the same page as many times I needed. Be carefull, because if you have a shape or a logo in your original page, and on the new page you want to keep it, but change the colour of it, then you must on the new page use a NEW SHAPE or CREATE A NEW LOGO, otherwise as soon you publish the new one, then the old shape.... will take the color of the new one.

    OK.
    Now :
Your sun flowers are not all of the size, some are 57x57 others are 59x59.
First thing to do make all the sun flower pictures the same size, and align them.
The text, you can align that one too, and the transparent shape must be on top of the text & the pictures, so they will look like one link. Just have to follow that little tip I told you before.

About the loading, it is always good to resize the picture. I think I my folders I have 10 or more picture of the same one but of different size.
My internet connection is very fast, so I do not know what to say about the loading of your page. I am loading them quite fast.

    Thanks Alas,

How did you know what size my sunflowers are? Do you have a handy tip on how to resize them all to the same size?? Will go thru all my pages & ensure that the shape box is on top of the text. Do you think I should have a picture backgorund or will the yellow colour be OK? I have tried to add a picture background but BV keeps adding the picture in a tiled effect rather than one picture!!!

Really appreciate all your knowledge & wisdom.

    Thanks,
    Linda

I've managed to find a solution to the size issue so I'll have a go at inserting the new images.

By the end of this website I'm bound to be an expert (lol) !!!!!

    Hi Tazmarlin

Try reduce the size of your photos, old or new ones. I check one and is 50X70 cm at 72 dpi, like a poster. Reduce them (if you know how t do it) at least 90% in order to have a more "live" site without the need of a high speed connection. I have a 4Mbps and i have to wait..to see your images.

Taz - It appears you have manually adjusted the sizes of your images. You could achieve a crisper look by resizing them in a program such as pixresizer (free download here at BV) to make them just the size you need without that compressed look. Have a look here

    Hi Linda,
pix is a very good one, I use it for all my work.
The size is according to your design. For ex. a good suggestion is to have the page not wider then 800, so if you have the whole page within that size, you should be ok.
I have some pictures that they are 700 X 150 & they load Ok.

    Thanks for your input,
    Linda-
You can have the pictures the same size you have them now, but resize them from their original sizes with the picture resizer instead of using the corner or other handles.

    For example:
Your picture of your house has an actual size of 2,032px × 1,524px but it appears you have adjusted the size manually to 585px × 386px.

So, you could put it in the resizer at it's original dimension and have that program resize it to the 585px you want it to be. The result will be the same size, but faster loading.

If you follow the instructions in the link I gave you from Collector's Info, you can also reduce the kb's further, without losing any size or quality, and it will load even faster.

    Hi Guyz,

I'm in the process of resizing my images with pixresizer but how can I tell what size I have reduced them to as I used the drag n drop handles so can't see a size in the properties box of the picture?

    Cheers,

    Linda
Couple of ways to do this.

The way I know what size your pictures is that I use Firefox as a secondary browser. In Firefox, you can right click on a published page and click page info and look in the media tab and all the information about all your images is there, including actual and published sizes.

Another way is right in your BV sitebuilder.
Open the page where the image you are adjusting is.
Make sure you have the ruler enabled in your sitebuilder - To do that click View and Ruler.
Then you can see what size your pictures are on your page. It doesn't have to be exact, you can approximate and all will be fine.

    Good Luck
