Thread: Our new site - please be gentle!

Hi there,

If anyone has time, please review our site www.cushiecreations.com, and we would welcome any feedback.

We still have the search engine optimisation to get through, but we've launched so our existing customers can peruse.

We've gone through the tutorials, read through these forums on tips etc so thanks for that, and all the images are less than 50Kb etc. And the website builder is awesome - it took us no time to put this together.

We are still reviewing, but any feedback would be welcome.

Hi there, I think you have done a great job, yes you need to do a bit of seo on it, title pages, alt tags etc...

I may put a little more info on the home page, this would help the search engines and customers alike. Maybe take a little info off the about us page. At least tell them where you are based.

I am also a little concerned that you take paypal for international orders only, this to me is a big mistake and could cost you a lot of business. I personally would not give my details to a site I did not know for money transfers and a lot of others may not also. There is not even a contact number for them to ring to pass on their detailsm maybe for a bit more trust put a phone number on there.

Although paypal is not ideal through a lack of competion, it serves me very well for small to medium volumes of on my sites. You need to give as many options as possible and paypal would make the customer feel safer. You really should think about this as a permanent option.

Those are my opnions, good luck with it, very good start.

Hi nice site & well laid out with a fresh feel. Would be nice to pay direct via something like paypal with a button, but I am not sure how this works in AU. If it was PP charges you were worried about, I would increase your prices by a dollar or so to cover this. Personally, I would rather pay an extra dollar or so more than mess around with transfers or cheques. But it would still be good to offer the 1st facilities.

Hi there! It's a really nice start - has a nice fresh feel to it.

In addition to your all important SE work I would definately do as Karel has suggested and put more explanatory text on your home page. As of now there's not enough for search engines to sink their teeth into.

You don't have to complicate or clutter your page in order to do this. Just tell us a little more about yourselves.

I really like the colors and the navigation is very straight forward. You do need to title your pages using keyword phrases that people would use as search terms to find you. You should also make sure that those terms appear in the meta description and the keyword meta tag as well as well as within the content of the text on the page itself.

Here are some suggestions. I used the term "cushions" as a search query.

You will see the number of searches per day (based of off a Meta Crawler data search) for each term.

This is the bit we are working on at present.

What do you mean by "title your pages" - I thought I did that, or am I think of something else?

hi there ... great website ... great idea ... great product ... you should do well but work on the feedback the others have given.

What I did for paypal was sign up and creat a button for my site there. Then just cut and paste the code into an html box on my page.

I've made some of those changes to www.cushiecreations.com, wth the exception of the paypal buttons - there's not enough flexibility in BlueVoda for our price variations.

However, I've also given soholaunch a go, since the price variations required a bit more than what BlueVoda provided. As such, I've created www.cushions.cushiecreations.com , and my wife and her business partner prefer this version as its easier to navigate and search.

I still need to do the SE work, but any feedback on my subdomain site would be great.

As an aside, what is the best way to turn www.cushions.cushiecreations.com to www.cushiecreations.com? Is this via a support ticket?

Hi, great site, great items. two quick things:
"We are 2 creative Australian mums that were frustrated with the lack of quality gifts for children, which were just that little bit different."
We have a similar "down home" way of talking in the American south. I understand it TOTALLY, but not good for business.
2nd, I hate that here in America we have this big thing about saying "Christmas." From a personal standpoint, it's stupid. From a business standpoint, if you're going to say Christmas alone, you're leaving out everyone that's not Christian based (and their $). Holiday is a better word. Again, I say merry christmas to everyone, one nation under God, the whole nine yards...but again for business sake.

building on previous comments... fantastically easy to buy from you! Ditto to chris27... 'down home'... the cushions are oh so creatively brilliant.. I feel that the commentary could be too. IE.. We LOVE our cushions, and now we want to sprinkle the world ... Question about the postage, why is an unfilled cushion $20 postage when express post packs cost $10 and could easily fill at least 6 covers? I've Ebayed for a while and this is the first thing I look for when I buy.... the postage you offer would put me off. Where in Aus are you based?

Its $20 for the unfilled cushion and $2 for postage. I'm assuming you are referring to the "Pricing" menu item? I thought it was pretty clear, but if there is doubt, I'll lay it out easier.
