Thread: My first webpage

This website is for my dad's business. It's not quite there yet; still a work in progress. I am open to all suggestions. And I have a couple questions: why is my contacts page opening in a separate window? Can I make the menu items appear bold when you scroll over them?

that looks great for a first site. It may be my screen or that I ma seeing the site on firefox but at the bottom where it sais 'emailroger....' the text is not on the same line on some pages. I would check your pages sizes are the same on each page.

I should have mentioned, the fence background - not my personal choice, but my dad loves it. So it's there...haha!

Hello you are off to a great start, and so far looks really good!!

The reason your contact us page opens in a new window is because in the hyperlink properties window you have probably set the target to 'blank'. The target should be empty, so just delete it, republish, then it should be fine (don't forget to refresh your browser)

Thanks Darren. Where are the hyperlink properties?

If you double click the contact us button, up will pop a image properties box, where on the link tab you will see the url

Just below that is the 'target' field I mentioned earlier - should be empty.

Very nice, wish you were in florida..LOL The hurricane blew down my fence and had some guy fix it..he wanted cash (Should have known) so he didn't have to pay taxes. Duh, I gave it to him...Fence is falling down now and hurricane season is on the way...Trouble is a coming!!!!

Hello, well done site and to the point. One thing that I would change is on the home page. There is a paragraph with two long sentences describing services and types of fences. I would consider revising or perhaps into bullets to make it easier to read or summarize. Good luck.

Great point. I will look into summarizing that. I finally finished with the tweaks and it's for the most part the way it's going to be. So those of you who looked earlier, please take another peak if you don't mind!! Any final thoughts are MUCH appreciated! Thanks again!

I meant to ask - on the different types of fencing pages (i.e. chain link, aluminum, etc.), do you think I need somewhere on the page to go directly to the different types of fencing pages instead of having to click back or click back on types of fencing from the menu?

Very nice job! One thing, on your "about us" page the first paragraph is in third person, then the nest paragraphs are in first person without quotes. I think the first paragraph would sound better in first person. Looks good though!!!

From an undecided buyers perspective maybe it would be friendlier to "have a small link of each type on each fence type page". Now say that 10 times. LOL But it looks good how it is already.
