Thread: Oh well, here goes.....

I've taken ages do do this - it's my first attempt at a web site, so I'm a bit apprehensive.

I've looked at it myself, and have come up with a couple of things that I feel need addressing.....I'm a bit concerned about the time it takes to load the first two pages and:
will having music on all the pages, especially it being the same on them all, get on your t**s?

I've got some tweaking to do to the forms, as they don't seem to work.

But I'm looking now for criticism on the general look and feel of the site from people who know a sight more than I do.

First off the name and song is probaly copyrighted the song for sure if you don.t have permission can lead to penalties and fines courts and more, Now the website looks good have the page open in the same windows keep it uniformed whenlinking the pages leave the target blank nothing in it it will then open in the same window and center the pages your off to a good start.

For your first attempt you seem to have done quite a lot..........

All of your pages opened a new window and this could annoy a lot of clients.

Your music kept trying to download itself to my computer..........

The general layout is reasonable and the textual content was good.

Now for the hard part........start tweeking.

I've started workng on your suggestions, but I feel another G & T coming on, so I'll carry on tomorrow.

I'll advise when tweaking is tweaked and perhaps you'd be kind enough to suffer another look.

I've been tweaking, re-sizing and things. I can't get the guestbook working, though, but I'll get to that later.

I've binned the music from all but the home page now.

Well theres still tweaking of the page title alot of the pages they have the title as home I still would think about using the song. When companys use a song or part even the radio they pay royalties to use them so I would put that into consideration. But its coming around looks good.

I've contacted PRS about that and am waiting for a reply re royalties. If there's a problem I'll just write something myself.

I've just realised why the titles are the same...I used the "home" page clone as a template and forgot to change the titles....gonna do it next.

fun site. take your time and all the suggestions above and enjoy tweaking it.
i find the brightness of the yellow background distracting.
makes text and images hard to concentrate on.
you might try a mellower shade of yellow or a sand .gif image.
take time to allign your header and nav bar in the same place from page to page.
if you don't use a template just open all your pages in BV and click from one to another comparing each to the index page.
on the bottom right hand corner of BV there is a box that will tell you the position of every element (x and y) that will help you.
i did notice at least one header that was wider than the others. watch out for that one.

your guestbook really doesn't need the scroll bar.

love the animated gifs in the headers.

neat site. yes the header does take a slightly longer time to load, but its okay as the other matter comes in faster.
What i found most difficult is the yellow background, since you have a lot of matter to read, the background starts hurting the eyes after a while. definetly have to go in for a more soothing colour.

The font in the navigation is hard for me to read and the scrolling marquee at the bottom isn't centered and looks a bit amateurish. The color scheme was also a bit loud for my tastes.
