Hey man Im fairly new to all this myself, so I cant critique your site like someone with more EXP can.
But:
I always thougt Jewelry was spelt like that. one l not 2
Thanks Sarg,
Seems we use double L in Oz
Thanks heaps though.
It's a clean site but I don't really like the prices in blue with the gray background. Maybe a different combination of colours?
Keep it up!!
Cheers,
onya Sarg,
didn't see the difference until I published and I haven't changed it because I am not sure what one I like best..... what yah reckon Sarge?
you have a good eye Sarge !!! I bet you are a "gunny"!
Hi, it is quite possible that Jewelry or Jewellery are both picked up by the SE's. But might be of benefit to aim at where your customers are from & how they will spell certain words.
Thanks Chris,
Will take it on board..... everyones imput is greatly appreciated......thanks
Hi, I like the your choice of black background for this product. How do you see removing the gray background frame and let the products come through the background to create that mystic sense we have for jewellry
Thanks for your imput Anami..... I tried just the black background... but many pieces don't show well on black and it is all too confusing without some form of boarder... people are not sure whether the item descrition and price is above or below..... but I like the mystic feel.... maybe I can have another look at that. This being my first site.... it is good to get feedback.... Thankyou. Louise
Gidday Colonel.... the post to the Sarge was a reply to you.... just got a bit confused there for a bit..... thanks
and
Major in regards to the prices in blue..... yes a better colour is called for...thanks as well.
Louise, that is just a gorgeous, feel good, light spreading site. Well done. (I studied colour therapy.) The products look great.
You have a little typo on "no matter where life's take you".....doesn't make sense. Hope it's easy to change.

Louise, that is just a gorgeous, feel good site. Well done! (I studied colour therapy, too, a few years back.) The products look stunning and the layout accentuates their beauty.

Dear Byzantia,
Thankyou very much for your comments and that is exactly what I wanted my site to do... was to be a feel good site... because cutting stones makes me feel good and I just want to share the feeling... I too have great interest in colour therapy, I have had Parkinson's for many years and working with the chakras and learning to focus is the challenge... I will get onto the typo asap.... thanks Louise
Gidday,
Can I suggest some changes? Don't take it personal, it's just my opinion here.
Unfortunately I think your homepage is too cluttered. You have a few messages here that clash and it just confuses the whole page.
I'd suggest - keep the menu and the fossil picture and lose the rest.
- change the black writing on the fossil picture to white as it is a little bit hard to read against the background
- get rid of the animated email (in fact hide your email address completely otherwise you are running the risk of screeds of spam)
Now take the Bonsai Tree and message about your Mum and give it a page of it's own - it deserves it. Set up a "lightbox" (look in left-hand menu of BlueVoda) pictures and place a few different photos of bonsais with descriptions. If you click on the current picture, it takes you to a slightly larger picture on a page with no navigation buttons.
Then have a serious think about the adverts which are large, and totally dominate the page and dilute your message. You need to move them to a separate links page or reduce them in size or both. I'd get rid of the Aussie one for a start and replace it with a Kiwi one (nah just kidding). The Mission advert could be reduced to just one of the small photos of one of the kids. You could then add a description that gets displayed upon mouseover, plus you could have the whole advert on a separate links page.
Whatever you decide however, I think it is advisable that your link to these pages opens a new tab - currently you are redirecting your audience away from your website altogether.
Only my opinion but I personally think that it will make your website tons more effective.
Good luck
Hey there Muzza,
Some great insight there and I like what you have suggested.... I guess I was trying to get what my site is all about on the main page... I really like the lightbox idea, and yah I can see what you are saying about redirecting the traffic.... where would you suggest that I hide my email address?.... thanks for your imput... and where's New Zealand (only jokin') shame yah can't play rugby!:) Louise.
The simplest way is what I've done on part of my site and just put "email me" and doing an email link but that's not very secure as a simple mouse-over displays my email address.
It would be better setting up a form on a separate page and linking to that. Then you set the form up to be sent via email.
I have noticed however that my booking and quote forms are being sent to me full of a whole lot of rubbish which is suggesting that someone or something is having a go.
So to be ultra secure I suppose I'll have to try and find out how to do one of these things where, to send an email or submit a form, you have to type in a one-off verification code.
Thanks Muzza,
Have made a few changes to the front page, and still have a few more to do, I will look into the email part, at this stage I still have an email place, but the address is not stareing out at you. Thanks for you help.... it is a wonderful community and I am proud to be a part of it... Thanks Louise.
