    Default Gently Broken new website

OK, this is a bit scary. I'm putting this out there like an ugly baby! Feel very uncertain - know there are lots of things that could be better. First ever website. But here it is - would appreciate knowing about any errors, anything that doesn't work, anything that would make it better. www.gentlybroken.com.

Well.. I think you have a fairly GOOD start. I dont like the music in the background and think you should insert it via a plugin so you can have the option to shut it off. I think your page needs to be centered and your navigation running down one side or the other and not the bottom ..if you have a LONG page i dont wanna scroll down there to get to a new page.

OK, I will investigate plug-ins. Haven't done that yet. How do I do a side menu bar with drop-downs?

If I choose "center in browser" will that center the page? Will it leave blank spaces on the sides? What happens with screens that vary in width? What is standard for a page width? What do you use?

Well.. Id say standard width is 800 to 1000 pixels wide. Your site would show up in most all screens fairly easily.

You just use the slide menu with vertical navigation and they POP out to the side instead of down.

I'm trying to be self-sufficient here, but the tutorials on add-ons don't help a bit. I can get that far myself. Once I open the dialogue box I don't know what to do with the plug-in. Can you direct me somewhere that I can read a step-by-step?

You can use the plugin.. or the windows media...realplayer or quick time .. right click properties, browser for file. I think in the plugin you have to type in the location too.. but its pretty self explanatory.. try it and see what you come up with. Parameters are sizing usually.. and you can play with those after you see how it works

You might also have to manually upload the music file thru cpanel or use blue ftp

Your pages take forever to load, at least it seemed that way. Maybe it's the music, and the plugins will help, but it really was long. I used FF to look. Also I agree with Karen you need to make the pages no more than 1000 at max. width. The nav buttons are just text boxes with links to them right? Just take each one and put them on the left side or if you want them horizontal put them at the top.

    Good Luck!!
