my website has been up and working for some time.
I had an incident and thank you, vodahost, for helping me with the issue.
I believe, my keyword/metatags could use some improvements.

So, please tell me about my site.

Metatags shouyld be keyword rich and descriptive..I would get rid of the "under construction, to be completed in 2009"

changed meta-tags and keywords on all the pages, I hope it doesn't matter if they are duplicates? i.e. same keywords on different pages.
I'll have to wait for the review with google before I can run the webmaster tools again.

Your META Tags should all be page-specific, using only those Keywords and Phrases that are anchored within the page Content.

This is the entire focus on simple META and optimization: to demonstrate specific relevance for each page to emphasize the importance and clear purpose of the website.

It is an easy "fix" .... simply choose 5-10 words or phrases that are on the page in the textual Content that best represent that page or highlight a theme or concept that the page differentiates itself from the others.

And you do not have to wait for another visit! You should be making updates continually, deepening your page Content and refining your META Tags to best develop your ranking for the Search Engines as they look for the most reliable and best resource to come back to for the information they need to present to their search clients ---- which is the whole idea of ranking a website!

As said above, & would also add the key word "holiday" alongside vacation. Vacation is a more a term used in the US.

Need to have your key words within the pages text so the SE's can see the relevance to the page.

only have keywords that are on the page. Also treat each page individually.

Is google just looking at the index page, or does it do that with all pages of the website?

How does than ranking apply to keywords (quantity and quallity) ? Is still a jungle for me.

All pages should be treated individually with keywords only relating to that page.
SE's are looking for the relevance of your page to what someone might enter as a search. This is also has relevance in naming images well with a good alt tag.
There is many more things that the SE,s are looking for, but that is a constantly changing book. But the basics are keep the pages honest with good relevant info. This book might help.
