Thread: First time website build... am I right to be happy with it?

First timer.... for my scuba tech phillipines site.. would love any feedback you can spare.

There is a few pages still under construction, but there shouldn't be any dead links.

I would suggest creating some manner of establishing a "page" layout, especially when using black or darker colors as both background and body, if to at least comply with minimal Construct standards .... there simply is not enough for the SE's to distinctly distinguish what constitutes "Main" content from disparate elements and for them to 'read' intentional relationships to disassociated text for any relevance to be emphasized and valued fully: it is not the SE's job to "decipher" artistic design and fill in the blanks when it comes to scoring a build.

Offering some manner of page margins will overcome this ambiguity for both Visitors (whose initial impression is more likely noticable via the lack of contrasting areas of emphasis, let alone the overly contrasting visuals of Content text and images) and the SE's via the establishment of defined "grouping" and normalcy of textual Content presentation. Like it or not, when text colors are too close to background color (lacking contrast) or are too s harply contrasting (white on black - the opposite of "normal" black on white) they value such in the same manner in which they determine "spoof" sites, "hidden text" (a flag for penalization), or simple "non-conforming" (non-compliant, which triggers closer scrutiny overall).

Using such page establishment might also help you re-organize some of your smaller elements for better spacing and layout completion .... some things are unbalanced and simply too close for a professional look overall, IMO. (i.e. the smaller icons in top-left header area vs. other areas they could be placed, or in a different, more "flowing" manner).

Something to think about, using a Page ....

Otherwise, you seem to have demonstrated a good idea of how to begin establishing navigation, simple META development, and Content development (depth of Content is better than breadth).

Might be a good opportunity to have a revamp of the site. You are using quite a few images that will mean nothing to the SE's without a lot of extra help.IE:http://www.scubatechphilippines.com/images/Finished%20Logo%20v.2%20(sized)_02.jpg is not a good name as not many will enter "Finished%20Logo%20v.2%20(sized)_02" as a search in their browser. Might be a lot better named as scuba-philippines.jpg With an alt tag of Padi scuba diving lessons.
Also it not good to have text within an image as the SE's cant see this at all. (Sample)
