Well, it took awhile but with lots of help from my VH friends I have finally(I HOPE)
made Creating Your Own Contact Page with Email Form as easy as I could.

It really is as easy as 1-2-3

On your HOW TO MAKE A SECURE CONTACT PAGE you have a list of zip file contents listed as bvp, I have html on my form. Is there a reason why its bvp?

By the way, Great job on the website and for making this, it will benefit alot of us using these forms.

Hi Bird, yes the reason why they are listed as .bvp is that you can unzip them and publish them straight away using BV and then BV will change your files to .html
And thanks for your kind comments. I hope that people will be encouraged
to explore BV and Vodahost by making things as simple as posible.

This will most definately be a plus for someone starting out, and will encourage people they can do it.

On the contact form, there is a file named contact main,what is it and what do we do with it? Rest seems simple enough we'll see though. Thanks you are a great service to many,very unselfish with your critique,encouragement and all around helpfulness. Again, Thanks.

Trying to complete step 2, but get dialogue; cannot open file from Affiliatesystems BV?

and step 2 deals very plainly with file No 7 which is opening
processingpage.php in note pad.

Affiliatesystems BV has nothing to do with this program at all.

have you published file Nos 2 to 6 ?

This one is transparent to use with any white or color background..

This one has a shadow that will go on white..

Or just a block on the same color with shadow..

Wow, that really explained a lot for me. I have been attempting to find a script with instructions that I could understand... The only downside is that my current webhosting company doesn't let me use php scripts... (after all, it is free) It angers me though! Why wouldn't they let me have them on there? Whenever I was testing it, (the form that is) it came up with this error

this should solve the problem. because there are so many zip programs

you blank data.....
If you have used my form then you need to use the php script that comes
with the error checking pages as well.

I've just tried your download for a 'contact us' page. It all works great.
However, when a 'contact, is sent to me it does not enter their e-mail address in the "From" box so I can't just hit the reply button. Also, it comes to me in plain text and my reply is consequently by default, in plain text as well as opposed to my preference-HTML

David, still a tad confused after reading all the replys and checking your page with the contact form. Do I need to be live to work on this? Because...I downloaded the zip but not sure of what to do with it? This is not clear to me...

Form scripts will only work after they are published (or uploaded) on your site.

Publish as normal to your public.html directory.

Open in Notepad (or any text editor)

Select "file"
Select "open"
Select "files of type" and change to "ALL Files"
(Above step is most important)
Select "processingpage.php

Change this one line:

to
$mailto = "Enter your email address here";

(keep the double quotes intact)

Now SAVE this file in the following manner:

Select "file"
Select "save as"

Thats the hard part done..............

STEP 3 :

Now all you have to do is to open your BlueVoda FTP program (or any FTP program)
and upload "processingpage.php" to your public.html directory.....................

..........Thats it!.....Now you can test your own Email contact form............

You can treat any of the 2 to 6 pages, in BV, as if you had created them yourself.

i.e. Change background, add buttons, photos, change the messages etc.
But please do not change the names of the pages as they are referenced by
name in the php script file.

If you are not happy in changing that 1 line in the php file
then email me with your email address and I will send you the completed php file.

Which home page are you looking at because if its the free contact form
then there is almost nothing to load.......
I suggest that you check your computer or your IT connection......

David, thanks for your help with the forms on the website I'm working on - I'm still confused about what to put in the "action" area on the blue voda form - I think as soon as I get that right - it'll be working!

Also, I'd like to be able to make my form go to both the web people for this website AND a copy be sent to the person who fills it out - is there a simple way to do this?

Hi beth, its important to put the name of the php file in the forms "ACTION" box, so if the php file is called contactus then the "ACTION" box will read
contactus.php

Several people have posted various answers to your 2nd question but I have found that this method works for me........

duplicate this whole section in your php file thus:

better still, email your existing php file and the 2 email addresses and I will fix
it for you..............

David, please have a look at the updated forms tutorial. So you can implement three lines of code to avoid sending also the submit button value.

For the autoresponder part, it would be advisable to also change the text appearing. So have a look at the http://www.vodahost.com/vodatalk/for...sing-form.html post nr 6

David, re: Ur install of contactus.html, there is a form on my site now look pls. is this yours. can I see the codes so if need be I can chang e the email address. If it is the one I donot if it works. I tried but did not receive anything in george@mayatabasco or staff@mayatabasco.com do I need the extension .mx or no?

The problem I always had was " select all files" there is no prompt for this on my notepad.

Peter, I have sent you an email on this subject, and for the benefit of others, it looks as if you have 2 "from" items in your php script.

Your fields are not being sent in the order that you have created them on your form either.

Send me your thankyou.php script and I will sort it out for you.

Incidently, I dont think that this is my original "simple form" but lets get it working anyway...............
