Hi everyone. I've been working day and night to get my site up and running - please let me know what you think. I can't believe how easy BV makes it. I've mastered the basics with html, but now I'm struggling to learn all the php stuff so I can add some jazz to the site. All comments welcome. Great first attempt...your first page needs centering all your other pages are centered...I would justify your text opposed to centering it, personal oppinion to me it looks a bit untidy. The only other thing is that I got lost on your pages and could not get back to the home page until I found the small print at the bottom. But green is good and I wish you success with it

I agree with the above - particularly about all the centered text. Centered text looks better when used in small portions, not the whole page. You've really done an amazing job of laying this out and getting the points right in front of the audience. Remarkable first job. I suggest you read a bit about search engine optimization. Your page text appears to be pretty good - but the things like your titles and headlines - could definitely be improved.

Thanks for the comments guys. I took your advice and justified the text on main page, also fixed page width and alignment of items. And you're right about the "home" link missing - I was thinking the same myself but it's good to hear it from others. Thanks for your help. Adam www.begreen.com.au |

Heaps better looks a lot tidier and I was able to get back to the home page....only one thing I would change on the front page is the statement of making a difference I would make it in to a paragraph it looks like it should have bullet points the way it is laid out. I would do this.. Every person CAN make a difference; most people WANT to make a difference, but don't know how. There are many simple ways already available to achieve this, but until now there were no easy ways to find them. I have cut out a difference as one too many in the statement. www.costarock.biz www.costa-localbiz.com www.the-chill-zone.com

Nice work. Might want to consider placing a 'back' or 'home' button on this page, its at the bottom of the page now, took a while to find it. Not a big fan of adsense, but you have placed them discretely out of the way. Also, the titles "work green" or "build green" etc are underlined, giving the impression that they are linked. Good luck.

nicely done, although you have 2 ads by google in lower right you'd only need 1

Test all your links. I just went to Live Green - and clicked on cleaning products and it took me back to the home page. Same with the lawn and plant care link on that page. And the gutter and plumbing link on same page. I guess all the pages might not be up yet? But your work is really cut out for you if you have to go back and redo all the links.

Thanks for all your help everyone. I'm slowly making the suggested changes (all of which were spot on). Bethers - yes, a lot of the links on main 6 categories are not complete yet. I am gradually adding content to each category (usually as I gain a listing in that category) but I also don't like how it links back to home page. I'll change them to my "under construction" page as time permits. Does anyone know if we can make a change to a certain element on a page (eg. add a nav button) and then apply that change across all published pages? Not sure if it can be done but it would sure save me a lot of time. Any ideas appreciated. Installed a Google Calendar into my BeGreen Community page today - www.begreen.com.au/community.html - and I can't believe how easy the Google guys make things for us that are, shall we say, not-so-technically-minded. I wanted to have a public events calendar which only I can add to but which everyone can see - Google come through again - it even links to Google maps per calendar item. I'm really starting to enjoy this website stuff!!! Thanks again everyone, and keep the suggestions coming if you spot something. Adam www.BeGreen.com.au |

Adam: It seems I keep coming in later on these threads than everyone else, so I'll just say ditto to all comments above. As far as making a change to certain elements, such as your nav bar and have it apply across all pages...well Naval Design has come up with the perfect solution. I implemented it on my website in the last few days and it works slick. Here is the link to the thread and discussion: http://www.vodahost.com/vodatalk/blu...ge-bv-php.html Hope that will help you. and GOOOOOOO GREEEEEEN! |
