Default Ok...here's another one

I am up to about 7 sites now, but this one is a special project for me. I am a sports photographer (one of four jobs), I shot a lot of photos of my kid's playing little league football last year. SOOOO this year, I wanted to get a site together for all the little league teams that play for our city.

www.clearfieldthunder.com

Let me know if it passes the test.

Thanks in advance.

Very well done!! it looks well thought out and very organized. On you schedules and photo pages when I clicked on one of the links for that info it opened another window, was this planned. That could get allot of windows open and might upset some people.
Keep up the good work!!

I used to live up there in Bountiful, and before that American Fork. I moved to Texas in 96'.

Thank you for taking a look and for the feedback! On the schedule page, the links go to another site, since a lot of parents have more than on kid on different teams, I wanted them to be able to keep the "Schedule" page open so they could come back to it easily.

The photos....that is kind of a long story, but I have found with another football site that I have, with the use of lightbox... people get frustrated because they shut the slide show down with the "x" (browser) which meant they had to type in the site url again and get back to the photos page... I thought it was pretty straight forward, but, that is the feedback I got, so I set it up like this to start with on this site.

I am with you on this...I don't like too many pages popping up...but...

Do you miss the snow?

Nice site, the photos take a long time to load. If you want to continue to use the light box then I would suggest reducing the image size. Another option would be to use another album maker, I have a similar site for baseball and use JAlbum if you would like to take a look and see if it mihgt be something you are interested in. The image file size here really doesn't make that big of a difference. But I agree with SAman, I do not like all the different windows open (especially when they all have full navigation menus)

I am with you Ed...I personally don't like all the open windows... I guess it could be the players from the other football site (adult semi pro) have taken too many hard hits? ;)

I love Jalbum, actually, I put up the first few in Jalbum...but changed them to lightbox for this reason...

I have a photography site (as referenced on this site) and I actually sell these photos. I could not figure out a way to disable the right click function with Jalbum.... I don't want to go with the real obnoxious watermarking on this site like I do on my photo site... I know people can disable Java and swoop them but...I don't think most people are that savy..so I stayed with Lightbox.
If you know how to fix that in Jalbum, would you let me know please? Thank you!

Ok... majority rules, I changed the links so they do NOT bring up a new window..
Thank you for the input!

Well.... my 9, 11 and 15 yr old kids think I am "old" too...and I prefer warm climates...but we have roots here in UT and in VA...so here I am suffering through the snow... It's all good! (till I get my annual cruise to a warm climate...then I complain how cold it is for a while)

Back on topic;

Just curious...if the photo albums load slow...what connection / browser do they load slow on? Dial up will load so slow you can eat a meal, have coffee, and take a nap..... but what other connection?? I appreciate the feedback.

Ditto with not using the light box. One of your pages is 22000kb (22meg) & you should be able to use an alternative software to get the pages down to a maximum 3 or 4 hundred kb. It took over a 60secs to load at my end.
If you want to use a light box? try this one
Its a bit limited on the layouts, but this can be changed with a bit of work. But will load 5 times quicker the the light box.

If you go into the properties of chameleon (the one I like) click images and click the image save protection. This will diasable the right click and save functions. They will be able to save thumbs, but the resolution is so poor when they try to enlarge them that it is not worth it. But as you know nothing is 100% they are still able to print screen the images, the only way I have found to avoid this is to put a transperent shape over the image. But I have only been able to do this when I am not using a album or slide show. Good Luck.

nitasch

Your thumbnails are not really thumbnails, they take too long to load on the page.................

if you want an alternative to display your photos
look at the way I do it here:

http://mvpalma1.net and http://www.mvpalma1.net/lounge.php

The use of Iframes for your pics could also cut down on loading times and you could also use the tip mentioned to semi protect your photos as well.
