Test template

I am working on one of my sites, and I made a test template and wanting opinions on it. Here it is:

I have been working on this, but I do not how to make a website that looks good. If you have any tips, they would greatly be appreciated

Hello there,

sorry to have to say this but these are the type of pages that I close without looking any further as there is no content. The idea is usually just to make money out of links but does not pay off in the long run in my opinion.

Thank you for your opinion. There is no content yet, because I am just working on the template first, to get it right before adding content.

Any other thoughts from anyone else? I am open to all and any suggestions

As a template? My honest opinion... too dark. If I am visiting a site of this nature 'Make money from home' I am probably already at my lowest of lowest and feeling suicidal.. so showing me a dark balck/maroon website will tip me over the top! Brighten the room up and bring a smile back and some hope to me...

What colors would you suggest? Is the layout ok? What could be better with this template

Light 'whisper colours (Colors) lose the black for sure. Whisper blue? just try several.

Ok, I redid the template with lighter colors, kept almost the same layout, and I made 2 more templates to get opinions on. here they are:

I have been working on a new template, after taking your advice (which I really appreciate) and I wanted your thought on how it looks so far. I have not titled the page or anything, since it is only a template at moment, after I get it to where I want it, I will do all of that.

I am stuck on how to finish it (I am having such hard time figuring out what would be the best color to use as backround,as well as blending the right colors) so if you have any thoughts or suggestions, please let me know, anyway, here is what I have done so far:

Looks good to me. Just a matter of opinion, I'd make the green behind the links a little darker than the background. I'd also increase the size of the "Make Money From Home" header a bit. Also, you might try putting a drop shadow behind that header. Simply duplicate it, make the top copy white and the bottom copy black, offset just a hair.

Ok, I made the green darkr behind the links (is it the right color green?) and I increased the size of the "Make Money From Home" header.

Links are now too dark. Go into the link properties you can change the colours of them in ther.

Ok, I added more to the template. How does it look? I just want it to look alright. If it does not look ok, I sure could use some suggestions on what to do, as always all help has been appreciated

I'm a fan of lots of white space when it's the kind of site where there are going to be lots of other coloured graphics added. I'm only assuming - but you might be adding advertisements (with pictures) etc? A template that has a lot of colour can conflict with other elements on the page.

As Ramsey said above, lighter colours are generally better for this type of site.

You could take a look at some other 'money making' sites on the net and write down what you liked and didn't like about the site design of each one. There are lots of very spammy/scammy money making sites - and the best way of standing out is to ensure yours looks good and has high quality, original content.

Be sure to look up Navaldesign's method of putting a site together. If you want to change your template later on - you can easily change it without having to go back and change every single page.

Designing a logo for your site name is a good idea, as a logo forms an important part of the look of your pages.

Ok, I have spent the last 2 days experimenting and I created another test template. Just so you know, the text that I put on template is basically just babble, I just wanted some text on template to see how it looks. I am planning rewriting the whole thing.

Yep!

(I'd probably prefer the outline of the logo letters to be in a softer brown, but all else looks good to me)
