Hi Jim,
It's looking nice and clean but it is a little on the wide side. Generally folks don't like to scroll sideways - I'd advise you to bring it in nearer to 1000px or, even better, 800 and centre - this way it will look good to all of your visitors.
It has a nice feel and it is a really interesting subject.
I don't know why it's not viewing well on FF.
