Thread: Replacing One Domain Name for Another

I would like to know if I can replace my current domain name www.realtourassist4u.com with www.realtours4u.com, which I own and have just had transferred to voda domain. If I understand correctly, my only choice is to make is a subfile under the main domain name. I want people to look under www.realtours4u.com instead.

Let me see now if I can get this straight, if not, someone will come behind me and clear it up further for you ....

So your domain name that you would like to use is www.realtours4u.com and it is transferred to voda.

So, you can make a directory in your public_html file called realtours4u

then you make a folder in your blue voda files on your computer, called the same, and make an index page for this new name, (I think you can clone, you would read up on that) and publish this as public_html/realtours4u and your web address should be www.realtours4u.com

Then all pages would get published in the same way ....

then you would need to decide if you were going to delete your other pages or not or keep both going?

You DON'T simply create a subfolder on your site. you must add www.realtours4you.com in your account as addon domain. During this procedure, a folder named "realtours4you" will be automatically created and you need to publish your new site there.

You've cleared that up for me too

so the steps, cause I need doing this too ...

1. Go to add on domain, add your new domain name with the .com or whatever it is ...

2. then the folder gets premade in your directory public_html

3. then you publish public_html/newdomainname without the .com

4. And then that is it ....

Just one last observation: transfering the new domain to VH means simply that VH will be, from now on, responsible for the renewals, and will biil you. However, you also need to point the DNS of the new domain to your VH account. This is done by entering your VBS control panel
