Thread: Addon domains

I am new to VH and I am trying to figure out how addon domains relate to my main domain. My main domain is 1stoppetshop.net. My client ID is 11373.

One thing I am concerned about is this: I have to add an addon domain to my main domain. Is there any way I can set up my account so that I can access my site using http://1stoppetshop.net ? I would like very much to be able to use that URL as the index page URL, without a subdomain or subfolder. I see other people doing just that, being able to access their index page by using http://yourdomain.net, without having to use a subdomain or a subfolder path in the URL that points to their index page.

If this is your main domain in your account http://1stoppetshop.net by default this is where your web address will take you .... this page must be saved as index and published as index .... thus the reason you are seeing your files instead of your main page ....

so open the page again in blue voda web builder, save as index, publish as index and you will see your page ....

don't forget the www. when attempting to view .....

In response to this part of your question .... you main account does not need to be set up as an add on domain.

You would set up an add on domain, if you wanted to use your account to host another website ... e.g., another totally different website address, for one that you purchased a domain name for ....

Your main account does not need an add on or a subdomain ....

everything for your main account gets published to public_html
every page after the first page index .... will follow with the name of the page (all lower case, no capitals, no spaces) and will end in .html

in other words, your second page of your website could be called

grapes .... save as grapes, publish as grapes .... retrieve on the web via www.1stoppetshop.net/grapes.html
