Hi,

Paul, you just have to purchase the 2nd domain and create an add-on domain to your account.
Hey Bethers, when I'm ready to publish my 2nd website,
(1) Do I just follow the same steps as I did on the 1st website?
(2) When people type in my new URL, and then the page loads....will it read as a subdomain?
Hi Paul and Muzicman
Purchase your 2nd domain name. If you purchase that through Voda, ask them to point your servers to this domain name.
If not you will have to go into vbs (voda billing services) usually found on the top right corner of your welcome email, and go into there, and go to My sites, and you will find your domain name, check to be sure the two name servers you have been given are there, if they are not, add them ....
Go into your control panel, choose the icon "Add on domain" - addd the information in there, that is easy.
A new directory will be created in your public_html directory for this new domain .... for instance if your new domain is musicianpaul ... you will notice a new folder (directory) in there by this name.
On your own computer, I suggest, you make yourself a folder, within your blue voda files, named your new domain.
You then make all of the pages and save the .bvp files in there. You build the pages in the same way for this domain as your main (original domain). Yes you must start again with the main page index. By saving these files in their own folder on your computer, you will not overwrite the files that belong to your original domain.
When it comes to publishing this new site, you must type your domain name at the end of public_html .... in other words, again using musicianpaul as the example of your domain name ... you would publish to public_html/musicianpaul
I am certain at some point you will forget to type, or forget to remove it when publishing to your original domain, all is okay, you would just have to remove those pages out of each directory in your file manager. The only page that would hurt would be if you published the index page for musicianpaul to your original domain - so watch out for that, it's easy enough to happen - but not a problem, you would then just republish your original (main account) index page again to public_html
Hope this helps.
Oh, if you already have your domain purchased elsewhere, you can have it pointed over to voda, it will still work this way ....

LadyEye,
Thanks for the info. Here's another question....
I had a domain at another hosting providing. I requested the registrant to change all contact info to my info. He did that. However, now when I login to Voda Domains it is requesting an authorization key for the transfer...and I can't get the registrant to answer my calls or emails (6 weeks now).
How can I point this domain to the VH servers? They have a similar C-Panel...so how is it done?
Thanks
Ladyeye,
thank you,.
i will be trying that now.
So are you saying that we are only allowed one index? or can we have two index pages, one for each seperate domain name?
and you were saying that when its time to publish, we just have to remember to change the folder name?
and then both pages can be up and running similtaniously, without any overlap or harm to the other?
thank you so much, as always you are always so exact, and step by step.
you must be a teacher., a caring one.
Hi Muzicman ... I am sorry I didn't see your question until now, I am assuming you have it figured by now.
Paul ....
Yes, each site (domain name) needs it's own index page as the main page to the rest of your site ... just like your very first site needed an index page.
I make another file folder on my computer, call it 2nd domain, or even call it by your 2nd domain name, then when you make your index page for your 2nd site, you save it in that folder, (so that you don't overwrite your index page from your first site, you see because they both have the same name) ... and then when you go to publish - your main domain just gets published in the same way as usual to public_html but your 2nd domain gets published to public_html/2nddomainname - what you see in red there is what you must add each time you go to publish to your 2nd domain and then you must make sure you remove it when you go to publish to your first domain - okay - good luck ... always a pleasure to help you Paul!!

hi holly,
i just purchased the second domain name.
now, i must follow your directions you had below.
but i got a new password.
so when im publishing, im gonna do what you said, and use the new password?
if only everyone was as polite, peacefull, giving , non-judgemental, and humble as lady eye... this world would be a great place...
Hi Paul ....Originally Posted by fnt

Actually that new password would not be for publishing, that would be for the domain account, (VBS) you should still use the password that you always have been using to do your publishing ... give us a yell if you need any help, you have me very curious, but I can wait for the surprise, your site is so cool, it will be hard to top it you know!!

hey,
im having troubles with pointing the dns stuff to the new domain name...
Hi Paul
Go into your account (VBS) Voda Billing Services, (not your control panel) you can find this on the top right hand corner of your welcome email, log in there, usually your email address and your password, once inside click on MY SITES, then MY DOMAINS, and look for the addition of your new domain there (you did purchase this new domain through Voda right??) if you did that, then you will see the new domain name there, click on it, you will then see a small menu saying a few things, but will say CHANGE DNS, click that, there is where you need to type the two Domain Name Servers given to you in that email confirmation of domain name purchase, they look like this, ns.__vodahost.com. If you do not see your domain name in there, it may be a little early, a little bit of time is required, but usually not too much for this, if I remember correctly.
And you should then be good to go ... just checking, you added it as an add-on domain in your control panel right??
Okay, give it a try, we're standing by ... lol

i am bad today!!..
Do i use standard name services, or the following name servers.. (its on that page after i click change dns.)
first thing, i looked at my confirmation email of BOTH domain name purchases and i cannot find anything there that says ns.voada..com
But what about when i log in to control panel, from here
http://www.vodahost.com/login.htm . i see that
i always use this one..
Voda670.86.134.194ns9.vodahost.comns10.vodahost.com
Is this it?
and then as far as control panel ad on.
i went to that and i typed in the new domain name, and then i do not understand what does Username/directory/subdomain Name: mean,
and then ill use my password.
sorry im slow today, but thats ok. thank you for your help holly,
paul
Hi Paul - NEVER BAD :)
Yes, ns9.vodahost.com and ns10.vodahost.com would be your servers ...
You are logging into VBS right? Voda Billing Services ...
https://vodahost.com/modernbill/ <------- log in there
When you went into your control panel, you click the icon ADD-On domain ... you then add the name of the new domain ...
Username/directory/subdomain
Username will be the same username you always go into control panel with
the directory - public_html (that is your directory for your main (1st domain) the subdomain part is the new directory that is created for your 2nd domain name - so that is the directory (folder) that you will publish your new site to ...
Directory = public_html
Subdomain (really an add-on domain in this case) = Name of new domain
Then you publish the new domain pages to public_html/newdomain
A directory is merely just a folder that holds all of your files, the subdomain folder is just a folder within that directory, just to keep things separated ....
Okay, see how you make out there now Paul ....

hey,
i did what you said.
when i tried to publish the new page, 3youth.com,
it said "cannot change directory to public_html/3youth : no such file or directory.
now maybe i need to use another password?
how about stats for this site holly? when i go into control panel, i only saw follownotrends.com
almost there, im leaving, but ill be back in 2 hours. thank so much holly, almost there
Did you add the new domain as addon in your account ? First, you do that, and this procedure will create the folder for the new domain. Then you can publish. But, in order for the new domain to appear, you will need to wait for the necessary propagation time through the net, which is usually from some 3 - 4 hours up to 48 hours. (Sometimes miracles happen and it propagates in minutes )

navel,
where do i go to see this folder?
holly, yes its that and i believe i finnaly set it up right with the add on.
i will create an index page, then publish it using the same login and password.
now, how will the control panel differenciate between the two domains if i log on the control panel with the same password?
thank you
paul
and when it asks for a domain name it means 3youth.com
not www.3youth.com right?
public_html/3youth right?
haha,, thanks guys so much
HEY,
it published,, but it has this instead of the page that i published...
www.3youth.com
paul
Your addon domain is setup correctly. But, i'm not sure which folder you have defined as folder for www.3youth.com . Let me explain:
if i click on www.3youth.com i get an empty folder. This means that your addon is alive on the net, but there is no index page in that domain's folder.
If i click on www.follownotrends.com/3youth i find your published index page.
But if i click on www.3youth.follownotrends.com i get nothing.
This can only (in my opinion) be explained if you have cretaed the addon, but as default folder for this addon, you have given something different than " 3youth ". Your domain is alive, but since the index page is NOT published in the new domain's folder, it doesn't show up.
Solution: connect with FTP or File Manager. Look to see if by any case you have set as default folder for www.3youth.com something else (you will see it because, in your public_html there will be two folders: "3youth" and another, probably similarly named. Publish your index page in that folder, and check if your site shows up in internet. If i'm correct, you need to publish all your pages in that folder.

Paul ....
rename and save and publish that page you built
rename it index - save it as index - publish it as index to public_html/3youth
remember to save it as index in another folder than where your index page is for your follownotrends ... make a new folder on your own computer for this ... call it 2nd domain on your computer - okay
That should do it .....

hey guys...i appreciate this.
navel, in my ftp- there is only one folder called 3youth.
holly, i did what you said and the site thats supposed to come up for www.3youth.com, as navel says, comes up on
www.follownotrends.com/3youth . But before, when i was testing this out, it would always come out at www.follownotrends.com/3youth . Thats strange, because the page is named and saved as index. let me try something
look in your file manager and see if you have a folder named 3youth
that would mean you have created it as an add on domain ...
and I think Naval said you had this done correctly .....

Your page is coming up as www.follownotrends.com/3youth but not as www.3youth.follownotrends.com as it should, even as an index of the folder. So, there is something wrong with the addon setup, in the meaning that it is probably pointing somewhere else. If you wish, send me your loggin details and i will have an inside look.
