Thread: our chosen domain name is registered but not used

We set up our vodahost account with a .com url and tried to publish , but it appears someone has registered the name already although it shows on no searches. The .co.uk version is available so how do do we change our Bluevoda freedomain from .com to .c.o.uk - do we use control panel or is there another way??

We have been trying to get published for a week now and are chomping at the bit so you can all advise us how to do it better !!

what is the domain name that is taken?
HOw do you know it is taken?

If your domain was taken you could not have purchased it, so it may be that someone has just parked on your domain until you publish.
If you have not published your home page correctly you will continue to see this 'fake' site until you do publish correctly..
Having said all that
Did you save and publish your home page entitled index, all lower case?

Hi Liz again,
our domain name was www.amandacleaningservices.com but apparently this has been registered to an amanda green? through tucows.com domain registration. we put through our vodahost purchase using this url initially as we messed up several times as i didn't know anything about domain registration then and just assumed that if you searched all the engines and it didn't come up it must be free. !! So now we're left with an account we can't use unless we can somehow transfer it to another .ending
Can you help ??
