Thread: Addon domain is a subdomain?

Hi,
My main domian is www.eriviathall.co.uk

I have purchased a new domain name www.coachhousewales.co.uk

How do I seperate my new domain from the main domain as it is acting as a sub domain?

when i go to FTP Account Maintenance it has
coachhousewales@eriviathall.co.uk (public_html/coachhousewales)

Its still sub domain?

Addon domains and sub domains both are directories on your public_html. Even though technically an addon domain is a directory on your main site, it just looks at that directory for what it needs to load when someone types in www.your-addon-domain.com

yes but when you type in www.coachhousewales.co.uk it is not acting as an independant site why is that?

Have you pointed the domain name at your server from your domain control panel??

I have pointed the servers to vodahost in domain control panel..yes.

vodahost17 and vodahost18

Hi, you may have to delete the sub domain http://www.coachhousewales.eriviathall.co.uk/ I am not sure! but the system will be trying to create 2 folders/directory's of the same name, & i wouldn't of thought it would allow this.
NOTE: You may have to republish the site again to the new domain & not the sub domain. But let others confer this 1st.

Yes I have tryed to delete the subdomain but you carnt do that.
You have to delete the addon domain first,then reinstall.
But doing that you still get the site working as a sub domain?

Its doing what its supposed to, you just need to make sure you are publishing to the correct folder. The addon will be the one in lower case. The sub will be all upper case, or Each Word First Letter Upper Case as i just typed.

I have published it to public_html/coachhousewales which is the correct folder.

I have 100% put it as a addon domain!

But I still keep getting www.coachhousewales.eriviathall.co.uk/

It should be www.coachhousewales.co.uk but its not there?

Well heres a stupid question..have you gone back to the domain you purchased, and CHECKED the spelling? And to verify that is pointing correctly? I have seen instances where this is in fact the case. Make sure the extention is correct and isnt a .com etc etc.

Id delete the addon and the subdomain, then browse in the file manager to make sure by some OFF chance there isnt still a folder there with that name. If there is delete it. Then add it again as an addon and republish.

Yes, I have done all the above...looks like I am running out of options.
Looks like I will have to submit a support tickit.
Is there anymore suggestions before I do?

No.. id put in the support ticket as something isnt propogating as it should.

Umm... You havent by chance played around with the index manager in your cpanel have you?

When I changed the servers over to vodahost I had put 'd' before ns example:

dns17.vodahost.com it should of been ns17.vodahost.com!
