Default Does a domain transfer start a new full year?

Hello,
Would like to transfer (paid transfer) an existing domain name. It is due to expire Mar 10/08 with existing Host Company. If we transfer before the expiry date, does the domain name renew with VodaHost for one full year from date of transfer? Or after transfer, will it still expire on Mar 10/08?

I hope this is not a silly question. But I just wanted to avoid paying $9.95 for transfer, and then 3 weeks later, pay $19.95 for one full year.

Someone else may need to clarify this but
if you are transfering a domain to Voda then
I do believe that the renewal date does not change,
as you are only transfering not renewing..

The renewal date is governed by the date you
purchased the domain therefore you will need to renew
again on March 10/08

the alternative to transfering your domain is to
change the DNS to the voda DNS you were given on signup
and then place your domain name in the "ADD-ON DOMAINS"
in your cpanel, that way it will work with voda

Thank for the tip on add-on. I should have clarified that this will need to create a new hosting account, as the domain is owned by a co-worker (not actually myself)
