Changing MX Records

I have set up 2 email addresses for my husbands small business so that he will no longer be xxxx@Bellsouth.net but instead be hisname@company.com. The company I purchased the emaill accounts from says that I need to update my MX records with my hosting provider for these email addresses to be activated. How do I do that? I have gone into the DNS settings and added them under the current VodaHost ones but I keep getting an error.
