Thread: trying to buy an additional domain name

I am trying to buy an additional domain name, and when I type in what i want it keeps saying enter a valid domain name, so I tried many other ways and it still says the same thing. What am i doing wrong

You haven't been very clear on where you are buying this from.

I know when I purchase one from my registrars I have to enter just the main body of the domain:

You are probably entering the .com or the www. ?

Just enter the actual main body of the domain name without either of the above.

no, i just typed in the main part and then I selected .org in the drop down menu.

Do you know if the domain you are after is available?

and are you using any characters in the name that are not allowed?

it should be it has our town name and state abbriviation, and i tried several others. this is what i typed burlington.ia.dog.park

you need to remove all the periods .

If you must separate the words you are better off with:

burlington-ia-dog-park
