Default Domain Masking

Hi

I got two domain registeres by the name of say www.abc.com & www.xyz.com and got web space only with www.abc.com

now i have made few web pages for www.xyz.com and saved at www.abc.com/pages and also got the domain www.xyz.com redirected to www.abc.com/pages

Now here is the prob:

whenever any visitor go to www.xyz.com he is taken to www.abc.com/pages
but is there any way by which he see www.xyz.com inspite of www.abc.com/pages???

Thanks

If I understand you correctly you need to make xyz.com an add-on domain to your main abc.com. That way you can publish the correct pages to the relevent sub domain and when your visitors navigate to xyz.com that is what they will get. You can learn more about this by clicking here and viewing the appropriate tutorials. If, after viewing them, you still have questions feel free to use the search feature here (there are many posts dealing with adding domains) or ask another question.

Hey there!!
Thanks for your valuable reply :)
i have gone through the link, there is a topic by the name of URL Redirects at number 18

I have already done with that part but what i want is when someone gets redirected it shouldn't be reflected in its URL Tab.

If you visit that link to the turtorials again, it's #4 that you want to understand.
To do what you want is called an ADD-ON domain and not to be confused with a Sub-Domain. Add-on Domain names have to be purchased from a registra (like Voda Host) and "pointed" to the Add-on Domain server which will be the same as your Main Account Server.
It's ALL in the Tutorials. When you finally get to use the cPanel to install the Ad-On, read the instructions and the Bold Note there.
Good luck with it, it's not hard.

Actually you DO want it reflected in the tab as the SE will see that as trying to FOOL them and the people that visit your website. Nothing wrong with redirects, its HIDING them that causes the problems.

Well, there are times and means to do it, but its better done with a no index tag for robots, or.. if you url is so long no one can remember it. But in general, its not GOOD to misdirect people or the SE.

Karen
(and yes I know google does it itself, doesnt mean it WONT nail you for it!)

I have created an add on domain. all is pointing to DNS properly and works---here is situation. www.mainsite.com works properly, then www.addondomain.com works as well however; unless i REDIRECT addondomain.com to www.mainsite.com/addondomain.com/ none of my images display? I have the entire site built and need to get it up and running immediately and do not want browser to display as http://www.mainsite.com/addondomain.com. Please if anyone has encountered this and has possible solutions PLEASE PLEASE let me know.

seems to me that you just need to copy the image/folder from your main domain into the folder of your add on domain. or am I really missing the picture here?
