Default How to publish to a sub domain

Hello,

Please i'll like to know how to publish to a sub domain name.

I want to publish a page as a sub domaim to my add on domain.

How do i name & the index page to that sub domain? I've created the sub domain in cpanel, as .----.my addon domain.com, created a folder in my ftp, but when i try to publish the index page as index to the sub domain, it does not publish.

Please can you explain tome how to name & publish to a sub domain name, not to addon domain.

thanks

Hi,

Goto your cPanel and select "Sub-Domain" and follow the instructions.

You subdomain url will be: www.subdomain.maindomain.com/

A sub-domain is not an add-on domain.

A sub-domain is free and you can create as may as you like.

An "Add-On Domain" is similar to your main domain which you have to buy and register.

Thanks for your reply,

I've already done so. But my question is on how to publish a page to the sub domain. Do i publish it as an inex page or just .html.

How do i logon to ftp to publish it. Is it just to log to the main domain name and upload it to a folder with that sub domain name.

Yes, when you publish to your sub-domain, it is just like any other website: you must have an index page, and linking pages follow the same Rules (www subdomain.maindomain.com/nextpage.html), etc.

IF you are using Blue Voda to create your web pages, you do not publish via the FTP tool in Blue Voda - ever! >> You must use the PUBLISH icon located in the top toolbar of Blue Voda.

When Publishing in Blue Voda (assuming you are "newer" and have the newer version of the cPanel to work with), you must enter the path in the Publish Dialog box as follows:

public_html/subdomain.maindomain.com
.

Thanks for your explanations. Iam not publishing through ftp. I just logon to see if the folder is there, and it is there.

I have just tried publishing as you said but it won't work. I went back to cpanel, delated the domain name & recreated it again. republish the site, but this is the messege i get:

"Error 550 can't change directory to public_html/subdomain.domainname.com no such file or directory"

Sounds like you have the "new" cPanel....

So.... delete the add-on/sub-domain once again.... (verify) .... and re-create as shown above, being sure in cPanel to add the ".com"
>> PRINT OUT the "Confirmation Page" which will come in handy to show you time and again how the path is structured, and how to access your directory.

Also, when publishing, be sure to add the ".com" to the BV Publish Dialog box, otherwise the true path will not be identified and followed (thus, Error messages).

Arrow Re: How to publish to a sub domain

Creating a sub-domain is as simple as entering your Control Panel and clicking on the "Sub-Domain" icon and following the procedures properly.

Once the sub-domain is properly created, you can then install Soholaunch into that "new" public_html/ directory.
