    You have to contact your domain issuer who then send out a form to you in the post. They do check very strictly the ownership of the domains belongs to you in the first place to be able to pass this to someone else.

    There is a charge for this.

    You log into your account with your domain registrar and change the domain registrant. You will receive an email that you requested this transaction and if you did not to respond, otherwise the recipient will then need to respond to another email they receive accepting the domain registration in their name. I have done this and have never had to pay a fee .. You will require their full name, address, email and telephone number to initiate this process.

    By registering a domain name ending in .uk, you enter into a contract of registration with Nominet UK.
    Fees and payment
    1. We are a not-for-profit organisation so our fees (see our website) reflect the cost of the work we do. To make sure that every person who registers a domain name pays their fair share of the costs of running the central registry, we: 6.1may make a charge for any of the services we provide under this contract, as long as (where only we can provide the service) we believe the fee is set at a not-for-profit cost-recovery level only;
    I had to transfer a UK domain over once and could not do it without paying a fee to Nominet, but if there is another way I am keen to learn for sure.

    Well domain transfers, yes you pay for them .. but it is my understanding the poster wants the ownership of the domain in another name, different than a domain transfer, I have given domains away that I no longer want to maintain, simply by making the change, receiving and responding to the email, providing the information and the recipient accepting the domain in their name, all without charge .. so I dunno ..

    Well to be honest I don't think it was a lot anyway from what I can remember, it was only a few £'s anyway so poster you have all the info and the choice is yours, I do remember it being about £19.00 a domain, and at the time I had about 20 that I passed over to someone else, worrying that the cost would be 20 x £19.00 having contacted Nominet they said a bulk upload was only £36 or thereabouts so we are not talking major money anyway.

    If the person has an account with the current Registrar where the domain is currently registered, they would only pay a transfer fee upon accepting and Registration.

    If the accepting person is at another Registrar altogether, the transfer is similar, but needs to be "confirmed" by you, adding to the delay (by process).

    If transferring a domain to another that is currently hosted at VodaHost, you must be careful not to simply shift legal status for the domain and continue to maintain hosting a site in your account at VodaHost, for that would constitute "reselling" of services, a violation of VodaHost Terms of Serice, and you entire account could be terminated without warning as a result.

    There are clear processes to all these choices, and if you could clarify, you would get a specific answer.
