Thread: Pointers...

Hi, I'm in need of a little guidance. I have a website with blue voda already, but would like to have 2 additional domain names go to this site. Also want to make sure it works the same because I've built it with soholaunch.

I've read pointers are free... but don't I need to purchase the extra domain names first?

Yes all domains will have to be purchased first, then you can redirect them to your site.

Ok... so I have waited the 24 hours and these domain names are in my control panel... now I learn I need to change the DNS? Where do I go to do this?

Login to where you purchased them.. if vodahost then login into voda billing services, and then domains.. then you can change the NS.Vodawhatever.com numbers that you got on your welcome package. should be two of them. Also tick the box that says custom at the top of where you type.

Thank you SO much. I've got that part under control now, but my next question...

When I park them and redirect them, it says if it is pointing to a file to be sure to put /. at the end. Would I be redirecting to a file? Do I need to type that in?

Also was wondering how long before these two extra names will go to my site?

HUH? Why are you redirecting them?

You dont need to REDIRECT them anywhere.. you just put in the servers numbers... make sure the addon exists in your cpanel and as soon as you publish an index page it will resolve to the domain name

<edit> ok i re read the first post. You just redirect them to the DOMAIN NAME no file

Youre welcome.. They should resolve within a couple of hours.. but.. it can take up to 48 for them to work all the time.

Hmmm... Everything seems to be good!

Except: when I type myhousedirectory.ca it goes to the vodahost screen... when I type www.myhousedirectory.ca it works great! Will this change as well?
