Thread: Updating name servers- help please!

on my welcome e-mail it says to update my DNS. I have read the tutorials etc but I've no idea what I need to do. Can you help me please?

Whomever you have registered your domain with (whatever company) should provide you with a webpage which will allow you to update the dns on your domain name.

Registered with vodahost, I have the current DNS and the updates i need to do via an e-mail but am confused. Do I go into all the domain name registries listed on the page where you have the tutorials for dns listed? Or ?

No, you would go to the specific one you registered with, which you said was Vodahost. Although Vodahost isn't listed there

For vodahost, go to http://vodahost.com/modernbill

From there you can manage your hosting packages and domain names, including updating the dns.

Ok, still stuck on this!! can get onto above page and click on 'change dns'
then it say configure dns service.
has listed ns1voda.35.com and ns2voda.35.com.

When i replace those with 174.36.20.24 and 174.36.20.25 (as in my e-mail) it comes up as an 'invalid name server'

Obviously I'm missing something here, can you help me out please?

The nameservers should be

ns1.voda35.com
ns2.voda35.com

Sorry just a typo error,name servers are correct but it won't let me change them to the numbers in my last post. Do I need them changed or can they stay as they are?

Leave them the way they are .. you will also need to add on this domain in your control panel if it is an add on domain .. as watdaflip says .. the ns ... etc. .. is the proper server numbers ... they also show in your welcome email .. the digital numbers you provide is the ip number that you will publish your website to .. those numbers will appear in the publish dialogue box that will show up when you press to publish ..

REDIRECT.

In cPanel goto redirect and redirect to your domain name.

for Addon Domain scrolldown and set up redirection whichever.
