Trouble viewing 2nd domain

I bought a 2nd domain name - www.halfkilofeta.com
Followed the directions in Addon on the cpanel.
Published a test page named index as public_html/halfkilofeta.
Not showing up!
I'm very worried about messing up our main site and am not
clear how to save my new homepage as index without losing
the original index. I've temporarily saved first index under new
name but there must be a better way to go about having 2
homepages?

I want www.halfkilofeta.com to be a completely independent
site with many links and pages - will this be possible as an addon?
I'm amazed at my cluelessness even after building what has turned
into a very busy site - I guess this says wonderful things for VodaHost!

Hi Marcie,

You seemed to have done all things right.

You publish to you add-on domain right

What happens is when you add a new domain in Add-on Domain, a new Folder will be automatically created in your public_html file.

The file name will be halfkilofeta.

Goto you cPanel and check out this folder first and see whether your add-on domain index page is there?

The new domain shows up in the public_html folder as
halfkilofeta.com

When I tried to publish the halfkilofeta index page it would
not upload without the .com Could this be the problem?

Not sure if it makes a differance? But your server seems to be
NS21.VODAHOST.COM
NS22.VODAHOST.COM

But! your new domain is pointing at......
DNS1.NAME-SERVICES.COM
DNS2.NAME-SERVICES.COM
DNS3.NAME-SERVICES.COM
DNS4.NAME-SERVICES.COM

I dont have my domains with VH so i am not sure on how you point your domain at your VH server when purchasing from VH. Now i might be missing something here? But there are instructions for every other way to point your domain at a VH server from just about every other provider, but i can see how you point to a VH server with a VH domain. But there are some instructions here, that might help.

Back to the beginning:
New Domain - www.halfkilofeta.com
Bought through Vodahost.
Shows up as addon with index.html in folder
but not appearing online.
Do I need to redirect? At the moment this option is disabled.
Please help someone!
I have no idea where I've gone wrong!

Since there is a .com in your public_html, try it out first and see what happens.

If it dosent work then trace back your steps.

What Chris told you could be the problem.

If you are a novice I suggest you submit a support ticket to VodaHost to transfer your Domain name to the VodaHost Registrar.

I did it for my other domains and has not had any problem eversince.

The DNS is now configured.
This must be the problem.
If I understand correctly, I may have to wait
a day or 2 for the site to appear online?
