Default Domains - How many may I have?

How many different domains can I have in one account. I have tw curently and am visualising another 2... is that allowed? Is there additional cost besides the purchase which in any event i have done via Vodahost

Thank you

Unlimited domains can be hosted on one VH account--but of course each add-on domain name must be purchased, either from VH or some other provider.

Default Additional Domain Question

Hi,
I have added a domain which seems to have gone without a hitch.
When I save the "Home' page of this domain do I save this as "index"?
I already have an index page saved for another domain. Would this not overwrite that page?
Thank you
Hans

Yes you save it as index.. but..

you make a NEW folder to save it inside of

When you publish you change the path to publish

public_html/newdomain

Hi Karen,
Thanx for the umpteenth response to my cry for assistance.
Hope I have put the new folder in the right place.
Here is what I did - but no page on the web site.
I made a new folder in the little pop up which appears when you go to open a page to work on. Inside the folder I saved the page as index.
The folder is now visble in the "open a page" pop up
I than published the page but it is not on the web... where have I gone wrong please?
The page was published to public_html/fxprofits.info
The URL is http://www.fxprofits.info
Thank you

Hi Karen, something is clearly not right.

I have now saved 2 more pages to the folder called fxprofits, viz:-

http://www.fxprofits.info/chartpagereq.php
and
http://www.fxprofits.info/palogo

All three pages are vivble in the newe folder and can be opened from ther in BV.

Have published all three to public_html/fxprofits.info

Not the index page, neither the other two open on the web.

Thank you
Hans

Hi, Hans. Did you use cPanal to create the add-on domain folder? It makes the folder for you in such a way that you can publish to it. There's a tutorial here.

The other thing to remember is to publish to that folder. That is, in the "Publish Web Page" box that opens when you use the Publish icon, you now publish your second site to "public_html/yournewsite.com" (or whatever).

It's OK to save your new pages in the folder you've already created, but you must publish them to the one you created in cPanel.

Hi Tom,
Yes I did do all that, this is what baffles me... I have done a domain before where I learned a lot from Karen, I looked at that procedure besides the tutorials before I started.
There is obviously a glitch somewhere, but it is not in an obvious place. If I could send you an attachment I could show you the domain in the cpanel ftp folder as well. As I say, I am baffled.
So just to recap I purchased the domain from BV called fxprofits.info
I set it up in cpanel add on domains as per the tutorial.
I created a new folder on my pop up where pages are opened and published the home page as index.
I published it to public_html/frprofits.info

Well thats it, but nothing on the web.
Perhaps someone else has a thought
Thank you for the assistance,
Hans

When you say POP UP.. do you mean when you are saving in blue voda? And.. on the publish pop up did you also CHANGE THE PATH type in the new folder behind public html?

Did you PURCHASE the domain name FIX PROFITS? You do have to purchase a name.. not the hosting.

Hi Karen,
I purchased the domain via BV. The domain name is http://www.fxprofits.info not "fix".

FX is forex trading jargon and is an accepted abreviation for the word Forex.

When one opens a page in the BV website builder, a small menu appears giving the option of pages one can work on. In this window I have created a folder and saved the Home page of the fxprofits domain as index... I have checked, it is in the folder I created When clicked upon it opens the page.
Thank you again, hope to resolve it.
Hans

Well Karen... I can not see what my VBS has to do with the problem at hand I see no tutorials in there or any thing else that would resolve my problem i.e. the non showing of my web pages after publication.... and how I shall MANAGE this publishing from within VBS? Or as you asked me... Have I pointed my domain at the server...
I do not find this answer in VBS... perhaps you would be kind enough to tell me how this works. The VBS upon opening shows my domain. Scratching around and opening the various menu buttons does not tell me anything about publishing problems. Neither do I find anything that remotely begins to address my problem.

The domains are there in VBS and on the end of the line it says ON.. Your letter to me does not say what I shall do to rectify it in there ... it merely says manage in there. What shall i manage in there to make my webpages publish and show?
If your reply had been remedial as opposed to a enquiring, as yours was i.e. DID you etc... I may at this stage have learned and not again have to revert to the forum, which till now I deemed to be the place that these sort of things were explained to an ignoramus like myself.

Karen, I know that you are clever and know about computers if this was not so you would not be a forum moderator, as I am on another subject dealing with matters in which I am a little more knowledgeable than most.

However, as for suffering the ignominy of your tongue lashing in public, please read the.... Please note!!! section of the welcome letter. This has till now been one of the great features of BV for me. Please do not reply, I shall surely find an answer from someone... I learned BV website building by asking... and at this time I am trying to learn some more related functions... by asking... at no stage did I wish to be a burden to any one in particular, you took it upon yourself to help me when I asked.
For this I am very grateful as I have learned a lot, however as you say you do not have the time to reply, I accept that and shall have to be patient and wait for another to help me. Lastly, I assure you that I do go to tutorials before I come to the forum, but I see nothing in the wordpress tutorial which has a direct relation to the problem I experience, nor does the VBS begin to show what my publishing problem is.
Regards
Hans

You dont publish there.. you go there and click on mydomains.. then you click on the domain in question.. and then, you type in the NSvoda22.com or whatever your server numbers are instead of the five default ones.. see your original domain

Trust me.. i havent LASHED YOU YET.. even tho you have sorely deserved it numerous times for duplicating and continuing numerous threads in numerous places.

And.. when you dont get your answers you are posting in my private messages for assistance.

Default Re: Domains - How many may I have?

I have gone to my domains and then to all the side menus that can open. The only one that contains numbers is the change DNS link. The numbers which could resemble your example are evident.
The new domain I am battling with has numbers already inserted which read as fillows ns1.voda37.com and ns2.voda37.com. These differ from my original domain which has the numbers 23 and 23... in place of 37 should these thus now be applicable to the new domain?
As I do not understand the underlying modis operandi I have altered nothing, in case of cocking things up rather than fixing..

The actual sequence of required actions was as follows:
1. >go to given URL
2. >My Domains
3. >original domain to see where are these number as enumerated in post
4. >found similar numbers in change DNS
6. >open fxprofits.info domain
7. >open Change DNS
8. >numbers already inserted, but differ from original Dmn which is 23
the new domain has number 37

Rather different from the recommended operation which is click domains and type in numbers. Hence the above sequence to enable the person replying to tell me if I am in the right place to fill in the numbers of my original domain, ie 37 which is there with those of the original domain, ie 23
Closed all - publication problem not resolved.
Advice will be appreciated.
Thank you

If you are using teh same account then yes.. they should be exactly the same as your orignial domain with the number 23. If you purchased new hosting.. then they will be your new hosting package ns numbers.
