Default Sub domain vs addon domain

Sorry if this has been asked elsewhere ... I have checked but can't find a clear instruction

I have a existing site hosted with VH
www.moorookanimalshelter.com

I have another domain not hosted anywhere yet
www.moorookanimalshelter.com.au

I can't transfer this domain to VH ... well I can, but I have to wait 60 days due to some ruling.

So, I redirect the name server to VH .. ok I get how to do that.

Then I'm unsure whether I should be using add-on domain, or subdomain. I can't find any info on subdomain. My intention is to have the .com.au as the main one, with the .com redirecting to the .com.au

The instructions on add-on domains give an eg of abc123.com/demo1234

Does that mean my add-on domain would show as:
moorookanimalshelter.com/page/moorookanimalshelter.com.au/page?

Probably not ... but I just want to clarify as the abc123.com/demo1234 threw me off.

Bit confused here ....

Thanks
Helen

Default Re: Sub domain vs addon domain

and another question ... (probably in the wrong place)

I've paid for vodahits for .com account

How will that deal with having a redirect on the .com to the .com.au

Will the search engines 'object' to that ?

Hi Helen,

Re: your first question

Since you already have a paid Domain name and want to use it; it will have to be as an Add-On Domain.

Use the Legacy File Manager in cPanel

goto Add-On Domain and configure your new domain.

The Add-On Domain page has a Tutorial in case you are not sure how to do it.

Once you have add on your new domain, anew FTP account will also be automatically created.

Your new domain will show as a folder in "public_html"
as "
moorookanimalshelter".

This folder is your new domain.

To publish from Blue Voda type in

"public_html/moorookanimalshelter"
